Well as NHRA does they just gave the LT1 a gift of 5 HP and now we have to carry 40-50 lbs more than yesterday.

I hope you really like this stuff.

If it was easy everyone would be doing it! Do you think that the combining of classes had any (political) input on that 5 HP?

Nothing political. Just some guys going fast when they did not need to. Triggered the AHFS and the rest was just mathmatics. It just separates the men from the boys. I'm not worried. It does suck that we will be joining the carb guys with a little more weight.

You guys made me nervous, went and checked and the LT1 still has the same rating in Super Stock (279, ten less than mine made at the tires when I was still driving it to work & back with 120,000 miles on it). Awfully big difference between the two factors.

I see where IHRA hit the LT1 pretty hard in Pure Stock.

That 315 HP is actually a reduction. Before that they had the LT1 at 325 HP in Pure Stock!

Man I cannot tell you guys how much I despise the rules!

We're gonna try to pigeon hole the Nova into some races here and there next year... but I'm afraid it's gonna be more grudge $$$ racing than anything for us.

Good luck with all of your efforts!

Ouch! Dumb assed me, I just assumed being a fairly new class they would begin with factory ratings. Should just keep quite when I don't know the facts.

Good luck, Ed

Ed,

How's the Super Stocker coming? You know that you should change your signature. If you ran a 10.47 in SS/JA trim you are nowhere near the slowest. Of about sixty cars that ran this year you would be in the top twenty (NHRA). Not too shabby!

Take Care,

Daren

Thanks Darren, this is still the one I threw together for the IHRA national even here. Did the heads myself, bone stock salvage yard intake, no Block Hard, stock Opti, etc. Had no time to do it the way I like. There are two in the division faster, Gary Emmons and a Dodge from Lousiana, forget his name. Need about 2/10ths to run with them when they take them out of "bracket mode".
Got my Layer heads, Hogan intake, bowtie block and lighter crank now, but can't find time to put it together. Dave Layer's heads blow mine away on the flow bench, almost 35 cfm better. Hope the new engine is faster than the old one. I'm going to set the one I've been running aside for a spare.

Take care, Ed
