Roll cage question..
Roll cage question.. i am looking into getting a cage made.. and i was just wondering if the main hoop (that goes from the floor pan up around your head) can be leaned back or if it has to stay straight vertical... someone told me that the main hoop has to be straight up and down and it cant lean back at the top if i want to pass NHRA sanctions.. any help?
is there any rule book online that will tell me... its not that i dont trust you guys.. its just that i want to make 100% sure about this before i go and start spending money on this cage...

how fast are you wanting to go? your best bet would be an nhra rule book, they put the new ones out in the middle of january or so, or if you plan to 8.49 or quicker go to the sfi website and purchase the spec book for what you need., they dont really post rules on the internet like scca and nasa do, i wish they did too.

I would never lean it back, if you were to put in on the roof that bar being straight would allow the roof to colapse a little less and would be stronger. Might just be a little but a little is a little.
I am about your height and my last car and a 10 point in it with the main hoop being straight up and my head was never close to it, it was only an issue with the overhead bars. If you are going for looks then safter is more important.

not sure who im going to have do it. or if im going to buy a kit to do it myself. im wanting to do a 10 point or so...
this is going to go in my datsun.. so the car is really small.. there isnt a lot of room in there. so i am not sure whats going to go on with it.

what kind of datsun, most dont have a drag kit available, if you use crome-moly tubing it can be smaller diameter so it will save a little room, no matter how you slice it its going to be tight, use lots of padding, cuse by the time you get in you wont want to drive from the headache lol

car_fixer at it again huh. Just yesterday that guy told me to go FWD and mini tub my front end I did a wolf in my camaro last year and it turned out great. But in the end, I could of paid someone what I had in doing it.
I agree, that's why I'm having Norman do mine. I could'nt buy it from wolf and pay someone to tig it in there any cheaper. And he is doing through the floor SFC's.
