They make a 28" stiff side wall slick

20 passes, wow, even less than a true drag tire.

I thought with a drag radial you're in the burnout longer, but if these particular drag radials have a softer compound, then yes, I can see less time.

I thought the 325/60 was closer to 30"? According to Hoosier's website, it shows to be 29.7" tall.

MADMAN, wow, so many different tires. I thought I found what everyone was recommending. I'll look again, but if you have a link, feel free.
The drag radial slick he is talking about uses a radial constructed sidewall which reacts faster and assuming the car hooks on it less power loss and et get taken from the tire wrapping up.

People get more than 20 passes on drag radials, I was just saying my friends swap theirs more often because they compete and like to keep the tires fresh.

The 325 is 28" tall it is a 50 series, you're thinking of the 315 60 15 which is close to 30" tall and has a 13.5 section on a 15x10 14.24 on a 15x12.

If he says run a hoosier drag slick with radial sidewall I'd try it, he deals with more race cars than we do LOL.

On the radial slicks you should get 60 passes on them. Its what Coach has been running for the last 2 years. His car picked up alot and is alot more consistent.

THANKS again everyone for your help/input. I'm going to go ahead and order the Hoosier Drag Slicks with radial construction, with the C06 compound.

Would those tires be good for a N/A setup making 800-850 fwhp? It's a ladder bar car thats cut 1.31 60's on 28x10.5 ET drags, so far.

Ok...a little comparing.

Hoosier Radial Slick vs. M/T ET Slick
Size - 30/10.5R/15 vs. 29.5/10.5/15
Compound - C06 vs. M5
Weight - 23 lbs. vs. 25 lbs.
Circumference - 92.5 vs 94

Is less circumference/rollout better? The Hoosier is lighter. What's softer, C06 or M5?

I would think the m5 compound is closer to the c07 compound, so the c06 would be softer, lighter is better in any tire, circumference only relates to the tire hight. One is simply taller than the other.

Just divide the 92.5 or 94 or any circumference by 3.14 it will give you the true hight of the tire assuming the circumference is correct.

So one is 29.4 and the other is 29.9.

Air pressure and rim width will also effect the tire hight.

Personally I think the hoosier slick on paper sounds like the better tire.

I have been running the M&H Racemaster 26x10.5x15 cheeter slick for years and have not found a tire that I've tried to out hook it on my car. I cut 1.42 60's on motor,m6 w/4.11's 14-16psi hot on my old set up. I tried e.t drags,e.t streets hoosier, and goodyears for a pass and they did not out hook the M&H on my car. I will try the m/t radials this year, but I don't expect them to out hook the H&H either. www.intercotire.com My bud runs the et radial and says street driving wears them fast.

Maybe you need to adjust the chassis some.

I have used both the M/T 29.5 10.5 stiff sidewall and the hoosier 30 10.5 radial slick. The hoosier cut better 60's and were more stable on the big end. The M/T is actually taller than the hoosiers also. I guess being radial constuction, the hoosiers did not wrinkle and would be the reason for quicker reactions because traction on both were great.

FWIW I had a 569 rwhp '95 Mustang GT. I had 315-35-17 hoosier drag radials on a mostly stock suspension, no drag shocks/springs, sway bar was still on etc and the car dead hooked without issue on those tires. On the street from a 1st gear roll with the car at 4500 MPH if I wacked it they did not spin at all, it was just violent acceleration. I'd highly recommend them. They were also very streetable for basic needs.

I think there is a communication problem. The tire I'm referring to is a Hoosier drag slick. It has no tread what so ever, but is made of radial construction. Not to be confused with a drag radial tire made for street use or DOT approved.

I have the Hoosier radial slicks waiting for me. I wanted to see how my M/T ET Drags were going to do after sitting over 2 years. They didn't show any signs of being dry rotted. The car was on stands, so it wasn't on the tire and they had very little use. I wanted to be sure so I tried them out tonight. It's kind of expensive assuming they're no good.

Well after the first pass, they showed horrible wrinkle marks on the sidewall due to it giving out. So I definitely have to go pick up the Hoosiers this week.
