Default best 5 point harness?

which is the best 5 point harness. I have been looking at the simpson's and the g-force. I really don't need the cats ***, but if one is better than the other or if they are all the same let me know.

I think that I am going to be going with the cam lock on whatever I end up with. The platinum series looks sick as well.

G-Force=Tiawan!

I would go with a good American or European made camlock setup. We have ran M&R's as well as RJS... both re-web every 2 years for like $40 while M&R offers polyester material as an option, just like the Simpson Platinums & the expensive belts all the NASCAR teams use.

Ive used pretty much them all and there all about the same. I prefer simpson. There only good for 2 years so most people get the regular latch style. You can get the belts recerted but over time the camlock starts binding up and gets scratched. There kind of a PITA in the dark too. Theres nothing wrong with the conventional latch setup if you want to go that route.

I have heard of people catching their jacket on a latch-link while on a run and actually opening it, so that is why I went with a camlock. Also, for the amount you actually use the belts, the cam should be good for many years.

I like my G-Force Cam Locks. Stroud is good stuff too. I don't typically car for Simpson, just because I don't like their parachutes. Never had their harnesses.

I've always used the latch style and have never had my clothing catch on the belt.

Its the other way around. The camlock is whats easy to get hung up and unlock. The latch system has an indent that it locks into, and has a strap if the handle that velcros down to the lap belt so nothing can get under it.

My cam is round like a door ****... there is physically nothing to catch on. The situation with the latch link was prior to anyone offering a velcro cover, so maybe that is why they went to that.

Regardless, look at any professional drag car; all camlocks!

I assume your using rjs or stroud belts then. Those are good belts. The simpson belts are not that way unfortunately. I had a set open up on me in a dragster when my arm restraint hooked and pulled it open. I build pro cars for a living, and have done updates on other big name chassis. It's about half and half. Walk down the staging lanes and look.

John Force Racing tested every belt under the sun earlier this year with the assistance of Ford's engineering staff. You know what they found to be the best? These:

I see what you are saying that something could contact that release, however with that horsepower that Medlen, Coil, Federly, and Prock bring to the table, I am guessing they did their homework and did it well.

thanks for all the replies- I don't think that I will go with G-force anymore.

Didn't know that there would be much difference in harnesses. Looks like the simpsons are the way to go.

I wouldn't buy Simpson for the simple fact that after 2 years your belts are junk. They don't recertify them AT ALL. RCI, Stroud, Impact, and several others will for a small fee. RCI just did mine for $60 including return shipping and I got brand new everything back except the cam lock itself.

who cares about recertifying? they charge 40-60 to recert and new belts are 69-89. so i run my simpson latch link for 2 years then sell them to some street guy or off roader for 40 bucks. so i get new for the cost of a recert
