Default Need help choosing a tire

I need a pair of drag radials and I have no idea which one to go with. I have stock SS wheels with an SLP Lid, hooker LT's, off road y-pipe, and exhaust. My rear is stock. Which pair should I go for and what size? Thanks for the help!!

For 16" rims#Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial Tire P255/60R16
27'' x 10.5'' - 15'')

For 17" rims # Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial Tire P275/40R17
26'' x 11.5'' - 17'')

Personally something 26" with a 10" tread, but they don't really make that size with 16" or 17"

Go with the Mickey Thompsons for sure,the best drag radial.Hook the best ,but careful of your stock rear end on the sticky tire.Dont waste your money on any other drag radial.

Agreed with above. Mickey Thompson D/R's are by far the best. Be sure to get the tallest tire possible for the best traction. (Unless you've got 2.73 gears) And good luck with that 10bolt...lol

The line is a long one for donations to fix broken 10-bolts

Another vote for M/T drag radials.

Go with MT DRs, dont't buy nitto 555r's.

At 9.7", the 255/50-16 is close enough to 10". But if width is a concern, M/T now makes 2 additional 16" sizes that are both wider and taller, but would need wider than an 8" rim to take full advantage of it.

And if you want a 28" tire that fits an 8" rim, M&H 275/55-16 ***! Outhooks the M/T and is a lot lighter!

There is no reason for him to run a 28" tire, his car is stock with headers and a y-pipe or at least that is all he listed as mods.

I also don't see anything about higher gear ratio, so a stock motor with an exhaust with stock gears would slow the car down with a 28" tire.

Personally I think the M/T drag radials are the better tire, there is a reason the ET records for drag radial classes are mostly held running the M/T drag radial, if there was a better tire and it was the M&H then everybody would be using them.

They have only been making the M&H's for two years, and they are a small company, so marketing is basically non-existent. Also, they dont have all the sizes covered. "Herd mentality" doesn't always give you the best results.

I switched from M/T's to M&H's, gained .08 in 60' first time out.

I would bet my life 99% of the faster cars won't gain .08 in the 60 ft switching from M/T to M&H.
