Default question about oem computer in a dragster and NHRA rules

Ok if I used an LS based engine in a dragster and wanted to keep the oem computer for an LS based car, would this be legal in ET classes(Super Pro or such).

I have a current rulebook, but I don't know if I am understanding it correctly.

it would be fine. there are plenty of dragsters out there running injection, what computer is controlling it doesn't make any difference.

.

Check page 90. Sounds like it's legal if it is only controling the fuel injection in one sentence. The next sentence says no computer on anything except stock vehicles. Doesn't sound clear enough to make any plans to me. No rev limiter, no timers, no switching. Best thing is always call the Div. Good luck & becareful.

If you carburated it, you might be able to legally run the MSD 6LS box?

Just call them brandon. It's way too big & expensive of a project to go by what a bunch of us yahoo's on here might or might not know. Half the stuff I hear on the net is never right. Especially with NHRA, they tell you something different all the time, depending on who answers the phone.

Thanks for the advice.

I will for sure check with someone from NHRA before I get started. Right now Its just a dream anyway. I just got done with my Camaro, well almost done, still got some more money to spend on it later and it has always been something I have thought about doing for a while, but right now I am just gathering info.

Any advice on what to look for in a dragster when the time comes? I have never had a dragster and don't really know what to look for and what price range the one I need is in. I see a bunch of used ones, but the prices are so different between them. What makes a good dragster chassis?

Moly & advance ET legal. Don't waste your time with a steel homemade chassis.

I know there are plenty of good homemade cars out there. I would just feel better with a professional jig built unit. Good luck, have fun.

Got any pics of the dragster? I've always thought an LS based dragster would be the coolest thing ever.

I don't have one, just thinking about putting one together.

Here is one though. I think they put a 6.0 in it.

www *********** com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=933

Well it won't let me post link to the pics, that sucks this forum used to be nice.

If you go to google and put this in quotations you can find it: "vbulletin/showthread.php?t=933"

I think they had around 400RWHP with race weight of 1745lbs and ran in the 8's 1/4 mile.
