Default Front Dristibutor Conversion

Im going to be trying this on the fox, already got the front cover and some other stuff, i never thought about the water pump but i see i will have to buy the spaced one.

Yet so, how in hell is this going to be belted, came across GMHP article and they only run the water pump from a mandrel? on the damper.. what about the alternator?

If anyone has done the swap or have seen one please let me know.. pics would be even better...

I thought a lot of these setups run a cover where the cam has a pulley on it that drives the distributor drive belt, keep in mind the distributor drive belts are pretty small.

I also know of some covers that integrate a mount for the alternator into the cover itself.

Im building a new engine for the camaro, so i got a fox body to swap over the stock internal ls1, but since i was keeping all the efi stuff for the camaro i considered carburating the fox, bought the GM front cover and the intake...

Yet as i see it is WAY expensive to do it, you have to buy an ATI damper, ford drive, special waterpump and god knows what else, that on the top of the carburator itself.

So i called a friend, he totalled his z06 at the track some months ago, asked him about the pcm and harness and he said yes.

So now its staying EFI, better and yet so much cheaper than carburating the ls1 ford style...

Doesn't Edlebrock make a plug in ignition controller to run the timing so you can use a carburetor on an Ls1?

I thought you can get the Victor jr. intake and the timing controlled for some where around 800 bucks?

lol Frank, its a $400 car that i will use to sell the old engine...

I did not want to mess with those crappy modules, some friends have tried it and advance/fuel management is not that good...

Check this article out http://www.customrodder.com/tech/051...retor_install/ a freind from Arandas has an older montecarlo with the lq9 carburated with the msd and it is quick and easy to install.

this was about doing it cheap, and it was going out of the "cheap" budget...

we got this done using a 2nd hand speartech harness and a pcm we had laying around, still chasing some bugs, but its going to get done faster than the camaro, thats for sure..
