Default Fire Systems

Who here has a Halon fire system install on their car?

I figure it's cheap insurance...just pull the handle and Halon everywhere.

What do you guys suggest? I'd done some searching on ebay and racingjunk but haven't had much luck finding anything.

I try to put them in all the cars I build. I am a dealer for Stroud Safety http://www.stroudsafety.com/HalonSystems.html. I also do Safecraft http://www.safecraft.com/

.

If buying from Ebay or RJ, make sure it's legal. My system is from '94 & it's not legal anymore.
I would say call Madman & get something you can trust & get serviced.
Modern stuff is much safer than the old halon stuff. Good luck.

Do I have other options? since I'm wanting this system as mainly insurance?

She's more of a street car. I've seen foam systems also, but that sounds like it could get really messy lol

As soon as I can get a little extra $ a 10 lb fe36 is gonna go in my car. I'd much rather spend 500 bucks then see the car burn to the ground, especially after having what could have been a disasterous fuel leak last year (after 4th 9 second run, I put car on the trailer, and when I got home, and unloaded the car, a fitting had come loose, allowing a ton of 118 fuel to dump all over the place, if I had made one more run at the track, car would have burnt to the ground I'm sure)

I guess a point to bring up from Mr. Dragster

I'm not sure when a fire system is "required" but if I see high 10's...i'd be happy as hell

Mine is just for cheap insurance, so buying a used one doesn't really bother me, long as it works?

I know they aren't required for a 10 second car, but I don't think they are ever discouraged.

Let's see. 10K motor, 10K chassis, 2K in wheels, 5K blower, 3K trans, 24K car........

500.00 fire system and not burning to death.

PRICELESS!

.

Trust me, it's well worth $500. I made thousands of pass' over 25 years & never needed it.
One pass more, split a block, catch on fire. I went out & bought a new car. Dual bottles, 6 nozzles &
a happier wife & driver. Would I race without, sure, it's a 1 in zillion chance of needing it.
At 9-10's N/A I probably wouldn't even give it a second thought. Now N2O, blowers,
turbo's that's a different story. Way too many guys are building these badass engines with a stock block.
That is just asking for a fire or oil on the tires, if you ask me. Than again as Steve said, all that money & work, plus death, $500 is not that much. I would go without something else. I'm also pushing Han's & diapers for everyone
running 10's?? or under. So I'm a big fan of safety 1st. Reasonable safety, unlike new nets,
belts every 2 years?? Shields being outdated?? Waste of money we should be using for diapers,
hans or fire systems. Got long sorry, good luck everyone, be safe.

Diaper's on my list, as soon as someone actually comes out with one that will fit an lsx motor right.
