I just took a cutoff wheel and went right up the seam where the two pieces of metal connected. You want to leave the two fairly close, just get rid of some metal. I then used some caulk to fill in the air gap. From there I just used a rotozip and carved out a nice curve in the plastic on the interior side of the wheel well. I did not have to relieve the external faces of the wheel well at all on the TA, 28's fit nicely. I'll post some pictures tomorrow.

Have you tried drilling a hole in the ground effects, and installing a grommet? I remember seeing 28's being a tight fit on a buddy's car, and I suggested he tie back the ground effect inside the fender well rather than cut it. In his case it worked. He just used some wire.
On my 98 Formula I used a BFH to deburr the front metal. I used a razor knif to trim the rear bumper cover but I tried to maintain the stock look on the side so it would not look ghetto.

The drill and pull idea wouldn't have worked on mine. It would have seriously deformed it and the tire still rubs when using the Convo's. I'm switching over to the Aluma Stars this weekend and I think much of that will go away.
When you see the pictures you'll know what I'm talking about and the little a-ha lightbulb will go off. I won't get to the pictures until later. I'm fitting my new tranny in to get the measurement for the driveshaft.
