Looks great..You going to add more rear bars?I know you dont need them to pass cert. but i like having them.I made my chassis guy add a few to the upper shock mounts and stuff on my 25.2 car.

Na, since its not mini-tubed and all the stock sheetmetal is back there thats fine for me. If I mini tub and cut most of the rear floor and bracing out I'll add a few more bars going to the shock mounts and rear rails to tie everything together. The factory rear structure on these cars is fairly stout unaltered.

Naturally the cert is what they consider minimum for driver safety, not chassis rigidity. My main concern was main hoop mounting and not having anything but tempered glass over my head. Since I doubt I'll even ever run 8.50 with the car I'll take the simple approach.

I've gotten mixed answers about going to the rear frame vs. over the seat with these cars... but it seems like most 25.5 cars go over the seat, and if thats good enough for 25.5 than its good enough for my 10 point.

I have seen many 25.2 and 25.5 cars with just two rear down bars welded to the floor.

I have also seen 10pts with 40 bars in the hatch/trunk area and all stock sheetmetal in the rear.

You pays your money and you makes your choice..

I gotz my 8.50 cert so I'm ready to kick 'er sideways and put lay down a number. Hopefully the block is up to the task.

Kurt gonna cert it for you? Did you pull the dash too?

It will have a 7.50 tag on it when I pick it up. I pulled 90% of the dash out with just a few screws holding it, I left the shell on so they could put the new bars near the holes that were there already. Its no big deal to pull the dash, the aftermarket guages take the most time to unhook to pull it.

25.5 is good to 7.50 ET, 3600lbs.

Supposedly SFI is going to come out with a 6.0 ET 3600lb cert pretty soon sice a lot of cars cant do the 3200lb minimum.
Were hoping to have to worry about that this season. I hope they come up with something for cars over 3,200lbs. Cause a 25.2 doesn't do you any good if you have to be at 3,400 for a race.

Yes they do nice work and I'm sure it looks familiar

They will probably come out with the new spec right after you get the 25.2 cage done and they change the rules to 3200lbs lol.

Kevin, it is looks pretty good and will look even better when it is done. What really made you decide to step it up? I thought you were pretty much going to stay on cruise control after clipping into the 8's.

I'm not really stepping anything up this year, the new engine is already in the car its not a whole lot quicker than the old one. Just decided to get this done now so in the fall I can concentrate on making some more power.

Kevin,
Looks awesome. I'm glad to see you raising the bar again. I doubt I will ever reach your ET's, but it will give me something to aim for.

Keep us updated!

I'm still a couple weeks out, few things they had to work around since I dont want to change anything under the car really so its taking some creativity in a couple spots. Glad to see you are ready to go though - get that thing together already

Hopefully I can get a little closer to mid 8s this year. If I get a tenth or two a year I'm happy, otherwise I'd be bored with it if it ran quick right off the bat..

KP,

Here is the deal when you go to pick your car up drive 3 miles out of your way and take my car with you and drop it off and if you don't mind just go ahead and leave them a check when you tell them to do the same thing to it they did to yours.

Not that I will ever go that fast but you know me I am trying to do this stuff as safe as I can!!

When I did my cage I went to the back of the car with the bars for one reason if the car gets truned around and I start into the wall backwards I want those bars to start working right off at the bumper support! It may make no difference at all but it made since to me when I was setting there fitting the cage and deciding how I wanted it to look and how I thought it would react in something I never want to be in which is a crash!!!!

Looks like they are doing a great job! I look forward to seeing it when you get it back. It may give me some ideals to add to my setup!

See you soon!
