welding roll cage

welding roll cage i have a question for those that have done there own welding on there roll cage. i wanted to know how are you guys welding the top of the cage where the roof is. do you guys drill holes on the botom off the floor to make the cage drop and weld the top, or just using a smaller tig torch?
I've seen this done and it worked well, but it was only a six point cage. Tack the main hoop to the floor and then weld the rear down bars to it. Break the tacks loose on the floor and slide the whole thing forward and weld the top of the down bars to the main hoop. I don't know if this will work for you or not.
