3.73 and a 28 inch tire, and a converter that isn't too loose you probably would be around 3000 rpm. For a power adder car that would be fine, n/a it's not gonna be the fastest it could be, but it will be reliable, and will still run decent.
I hear ya on the M6 woe's, I ditched it when the big motor went in my car 2 years ago, and I don't regret it one bit. I can only imagine the parts I would have broken if I had left the M6 in the car.
I don't drive the car on the street anymore, but I do have something I am gonna try to see if it helps with the heat. I have a big tranny cooler, but that also is going to get moved in an attempt to keep the tranny a little cooler (cooler is currently right on the radiator)

I have a 400 with a 3.73 and a 28 tire, at 65 I am close to 3000, want to say 3200 max. Nitrous car also, thats why it does not have more gear.
it buzzes a tad over 4K on a stock 4th gen tach at 80mph.
you WILL need a 29" tire to make 1/4 mile, depending on what rpm you turn.
i picked up .07 hundreths from a 3.70 gear. car reacts much quicker at the track, and actually hooks up a lil better on the street it seems.
