If I remember correctly you need to weld a cup to the bottom of the strut tower for the stud to bolt to. Also you need to cut the top of the strut tower. I can't remember fully. Sorry

Whats the part number on those shocks?

The new 3870's are like roadtrips.

You might have the old part number...1870 I think it was.

Mine are the new style and go on like roadtrips, But AFCO did screw up and put the stud style mount on mine on the top at first so I exchanged them for new ones with the proper mount... guess thats what happens when you have serial number 002 This might be your problem, check your part number and call afco. they have good customer service!

i think they are actually the old style...i got them from 69vette he said they were the new ones but i think after talking to afco they are the older 1870 ones....they have an allen head to adjust at the top of the shock, the new ones have a **** you turn

i called afco this afternoon but it was already closed...figured some1 on here had installed these before even though they are the older ones...
69vette told me they were ready to go..i ordered my springs from afco and went to put them on now im stuck

A) You were never told these were the new style. You were told they were new shocks which they are. You were sent pictures of them where you could clearly see that what style they were w/o the new **** before you purchased them.

B) You drill out the stock top spring mount to fit over the threads on the afco piece. Works great like that. We have installed numerous sets that way on customer's cars.
