Optima Batt Recharge?

Does anyone know if a Optima that has been out of the car for 1 1/2 yrs even capable of being recharged back to life? Is it even worth trying? I figured I ask before even thinking about buying a new one. The small shop down the street could not do it, but said to try a place with a better charger.

Maybe, but most likely if its completely dead its no good, Optimas dont like to sit fully discharged. You can try an old fashioned analog charger and leave it on there for a while. Most newer chargers wont even turn on if the battery voltage is too low.

I can tell you, those little odyssey batteries really REALLY dont' like to be dead, mine died once and was never right again after that.

Now I keep a tender on the car, even with a regular battery back in it.

You can try, but it is questionable if it will work. i revived mine, but it only was good for another year.

Try a high rate charge for a minute or 2 to see if it starts taking a charge. Then switch to a slow charge. These batteries do not like high voltage or high current charges.

Dry cell batteries are tough to deal with once you've killed them. Its worth it to get a good battery tender and be religious about keeping it fully charged.

took it to a shop down the street and had them try to charge it for a couple of hours. I went back and they said that the charge did nothing because its dead.
