Will a tire swap hurt my ET? Going from 255 50 16 MT ET street radial to 275 60 15 ET Street Radial

From what I've gathered going from a 26" to a 28" tire would probably hurt my ET rather than improve it.

I dyno'd 318RWHP and 310RWTQ I'm running mid 7.69-7.71@87.5 MPH in the eigth mile with a 1.629 60" stock internal, stock 3.23's, with some minor weight reduction(AC, emissions, front sway bar). The car dead hooks on 100% stock suspension @ 19 psi cold and I have DA LCAs, PHB, Comp rear shocks, ready to go on....

My next trip to the track I will have the car tuned for N20 and plan to hit it with a 150 RWHP hit looking for 7.0's@95-98MPH with a 1.5X 60"

Am I dreaming to think the car will hook on a 26" 255-50-16 MT ET Radials with 460ish RWHP and 480ish RWTQ ? With the stock 3.23's I think it would be perfect to stay with the 26" tire

Or should I take the opportunity to pick up some 15" pro stars with the 28" 275-60-15 ET street radials out back...

Would the 275 50 15's be my best choice?

with 323 a 26 inch tire would be better...if you can hook it..i have been 1.50 60' before on them and know heavier cars that went 1.38
i think you should try the tires you have now it will just take more tuning to make your car hook on them as oppoosed to the 28 that has more sidewall

My intial feeling is that by planning on sticking with 3.23's(for stop light t stop light runs) I should pass on the 275 60 15's and hold off untill I find some 275 50 15...

But then again with the power and torque that the N20 will bring I might need the 28"s

With the 3.23 gear out back, I would stick with the 26" tire, even on spray. If you go with a 3.73 gear later on, then I would go to a 28" tire. That Vig should be very efficient on the hose.

With your setup I would stick with a 26" tire. Cutting low to mid 1.4 60 on 255/16 DR are not a problem with 460rwhp....as long as you have the suspension to hook it.

The 275/60/15 would be overkill with your setup, even on the nitrous.

I have been 1.43 60ft. on 275/50/15 MT DR's on motor. I'm pushing close to 500 rwhp on a dynojet setup,if that answers your question on power level.

Bringing this back from the dead,

I added a cam, 125RWHP shot and took a little bit of weight out the car and went 1.47 flashing the converter from 1300RPM, bringing the juice in @ 4000RPM juice and the trans was shifting at 6200RPM with stock 16X8 245-50-16 tires out front with only 900psi bottle pressure.

Ill have some results with prostars up front, bringing in the juice 200-400 rpms sooner, and correct shift points and 1000psi within a week or two. Im hoping for 1.44-1.45 60" on the stock 10 bolt on these baby *** 255 radials
