TH350 suspension changes?
Ok guys,
My winter change is complete. I pulled the car back into the garage last night with a TH350. It was previously a T56 car. Can you guys please help me with what, if any, suspension changes need to be made? The car is a N/a 347 with a Trex/LS6 heads setup. I know you appreciate as much info as possible so I'll just list below:
Car weight: 3250
HP/Tq: 460/430(before T56 obviously)
Hal QA1 shocks/springs(not R series) with 275lb up front
Random Tech TA(what pinion is recommended here?)
relocation brackets
Moser 9" w/ 4.22s and a locker
PTC 4000 stall(no transbrake FYi)
BMR Extreme Sway Bar
Tires are either a Mt ET drag 28x10x15 or MT DR 325/50/15(depending on the class)
Can you guys help?!
Thanks!
Tim

My Camaro started out life as a T56 car. It now sports a TH400 trans. I would set the pinion angle at -1 and then leave it alone. If you run drag radials, I would suggest running the rear shocks at 7/7 (towards stiff) and the tires initially at 17 psi cold, and work from there.

Thanks, that's a good starting point.
You know, I just installed the BMR Extreme Sway bar on the car yesterday as well. Is there any actual instructions or theories on how to set up and/or adjust this thing out?
All i have found via my mediocre search skills are how to install them. I've got that done, I need to know how to use the thing now!

Thanks guys!
I just got off the phone with Lee. Absolutely excellent customer service. He really went above and beyond to ensure i was comfortable with the setup.
PSJ-->yea, after talking with Lee, I think i have way too much pre-load in it right now. The car is really "bouncy" right now. I am going to reset the load on it according to Lee's description. I really am anxious but nervous about this first trip out. As of right now, the best 60' it's gone is 1.63 with the T56. I have never really felt as though the car felt great, and to be honest the car was a consistent 1.7x car(imberresing i know). I am really interested to see how it acts with the new setup.

do you plan on spraying the car? if so you "might" have to much gear and too much converter as well. on mine I have 4.10s and a 4000 converter and does OK NA but on spray I'm blowing through the converter. and another thing you'll miss that M6 if you like driving the car. I don't enjoy mine like I used to when it was a A4.

I hear ya man, but I am not at all interested in cruising in my car. It did fine n/a last night on the gear/converter setup, but I think the stall is not quite 4k. It just doesnt come out of the hole hard at all IMO. I am going to take it back to the track next weekend and see if it fares any better.

Awful.
I just could not get the car to come out hard for the life of me. I tried brake stalling to 3500, i tried flashing it, i tried brake stalling to 2k. It was just so so soft coming out of the hole. Talk about a completely different feeling launching on a TH350 vs. a T56 setup. Night and day in "violence" on the car. Best 60' it went on saturday was a 1.65, but it didn't really lose any mph at all. I am thinking about either a) restalling the current stall, or b) starting from scratch with a different stall.
I have a side questions for anyone that reads this:
I have the long-style TA that mounts to the relocation bracktet for my TH350. It allows for the TA to move up or down on the mount. Lee at BMR told me to put it at the bottom mount, and this would allow for a softer hit on the tires at launch. Is it possible this had something to do with my "lazy" feeling out of the hole? I am tempted to move the mount up a couple of spots and see if it makes any noticeable difference.....
I will say it is seriously the FIRST time in my setup that the car just hooked and went. The car had little/no tire spin out of the hole. It just didn't push out and go from the line.....I just don't get it~!
I will try and upload some video's of the car at the track. I think there was only 1 maybe two passes that were decent. I was a little dissapointed in the times, but by the end of the night, it was .1 of my best ever in the T56 setup.

If you decide on a bigger stall I have a TCI 4000 that flashes more like 4500 I may be interested in doing some tradingit's just to big for spray for me. I'm right down the road from you if you wanted to check it out. mine NA full weight sixties 1.45-1.50 depending on the track

Tim i have the same thing going on but i change form the 4l60e to the th350....with the 4l60e i had a yank ss3600 stall and my car would 60 ft 1.50's...Swapped to a th350 and diff converter and off the trans break all i can get is 1.66's the converter is to tight for my set up.....I have a PI VIG 4400 on the way it should help my car out alot....

I am thinking about going with a much higher stall like you Neal. We will have to wait until next month and see. If nothing else, it's inspiring to know the car is already within .1 of my best on the T56 setup, and on the first day out.

Yea same here i am about .1 out as far as ET. So with the looser converter it should do alot better 60 fts. I am planning on changing converter this week and running this weekend i will let you know what happens.......

Sounds like you either need a higher stall or a bigger nitrous pill on the launch

Power + traction = great 60ft's.
Pinky went 11.doh's and slower on some high 1.5's and low 1.6's, basically because the car was running a nitrous tune and nitrous converter.
Put 4 degrees of timing back in (28 degrees @ WOT), got some cooler air and the car went 10.92 and went 1.48's.
Just installed a 5500 ATI stall, am hoping for high 1.3's and low 1.4's which in conjunction with the intake manifold swap (FAST 92 ported), I hope the car can rip some high 10.6's.
A 1.6 with no wheelspin = research your engine/trans combos.... maybe need a looser converter, more gear, something......
