I didn't use any special tools I used an angle grinder to remove the nut inserts, then cut the bar in half with my cutoff wheel.

LOL I could drop a broom on it and it would probably cave in, not much left of the door.

^ That's what the cage is for. If someone runs into your door even with all that stuff in it your door is going to get trashed. They're basically just a few layers of SMC.

I'm going to run a frame and lexan windows. The door is much lighter now, but it is still very firm and opens and closes really smooth, unlike a lot of glass doors that pretty much feel like they are flimsy.

Sorry to bring up an old thread. But what about safety compromises? This is 100% my daily driver, but if someone decides to t-bone me or my passenger, will taking these bars out be worth it?

Who needs legs, you'll go faster without them, plus you can run hand controls I bet the reaction time is faster

I was actually able to get the front 2 10mm bolts out without too much trouble just using a short 10mm wrench. Now the 15mm in the back is what's giving me a problem. I can't get wrench on it, and I can't get a ratchet on it. I guess i'm going to have to find one of those sockets that you use with a wrench. Oh well, I was hoping I would be able to avoid needing any special tools

did mine!!! i used a dremel and grinded the backs of the bolts. it was easy and took about an hour for both doors. i used a holesaw and cut a hole in the bottom corner of the doors to get the bars out. i dont mind having a hole in the bottom of my doors
