Go to sears and buy the sockets you can put in a ratchet wrench. The back 15mm is easy. Up front are two 10MM bolts. Be sure not to back the wrench up to the door skin when takin those off.

I just got done doing the drivers side of my car. What a bitch, I'd rather pull the motor out and take it apart than dick around in those fiberglass doors.

I read about people taking them out threw the holes but it was easier for me to just cut them up into peices with the zipper. My car is lower, my garage is small. It would have been more of a pain to jack it up etc than just make some cuts with a air tool.

Good luck and I hope you have good patience, its a huge PITA. I do like how light the doors feel when I shut them now. They should have felt like that from the factory. Well, I'm back off to the passenger side.

MUCH easier, camaros are a flat out bitch if the bolts are super tight and of course they have to put thread locker on those 10mm bolts so the are hard to turn the entire way out

My way has taken me a long time because I wasn't sure on how to approach it at first, but works a lot better than hacking down sockets and takes out more weight:

Step 1: Cut out all the unnecessary door fiberglass:

Tool used = Air saw with a jig saw blade

Step 2: Use a T30 Torx bit to remove the door lock assembly:

Tool used = rachet and T30 torx socket

Step 3: Cut vertically along the bracket that holds the door bar in place. It's double sided so you have to cut through both parts. It's pretty hefty and has some weight to it. I haven't weighed all the stuff yet as I'm not quite finished.

Tool used = air grinder with a metal cutting wheel

Hopefully I can finish doing this tomorrow and let you know how much extra weight I saved over just unbolting the bars.

After seeing this thread I did mine in about an hour. Gettting that stupid door lock to clip on the metal rod was more of a bitch than anything else

^ That's only part of it. I went a little more all out on the window regulators:

I could cut more out if I removed the regulator from the car. I didn't want to hassle with it though so I just left them in the car and cut out as much as I could.

I also found this picture of how I was trying to cut out the door brackets before I removed the lock assembly:

I'm paying for it now though. When I was working on the car I had my driver's seat out of the car on the ground with the door open. I had my legs sticking out from under the door. They got so burnt they are now peeling. I've never had my shins peel before. It's really weird.

I'm cutting all of mine out and leaving just enough to rivet a door panel on.

I cut around all the stock attachment points. The door fiberglass really isn't that heavy. The amount I cut out of both doors was 1.90625 lbs.

This was just from the driver's side door:

You can also see all the white dust on the ground. Cutting out the fiberglass makes a humongous mess.

I started off using one of those. I'd really suggest the saw. The angle grinder made about three times the dust / mess the saw did. I switched really quickly.

I just did a huge write up about how to remove your door bars and make your doors super light. Here's the link to it: http://lsxextreme.com/showthread.php?p=1374#post1374

Any feed back or comments would be greatly appreciated.
