Weird tire problem , need your input.

Weird tire problem , need your input. These are Hoosier DOT QTP'S, have you ever seen this? It dosent feel as if it goes all the way through. BTW I am running these without tubes. I need to know whats going on, I never let the weight of the car sit on them for more than 2 day's. They arent leaking at all either.

is that a bulge in the sidewall??
if it is , it kinda seems like the air was seeping through the layers and finiding its way to the last layer of rubber. i had that happen on a regular z rated tire, didn't heut the tire but i chaged it anyway ( funny thing is , the bulge was still holding air with the tire off the rim)

Yeah that's exactly what it appears to be, if you push on the bulge you can still feel side wall behind it and it is holding air too.
Old or not that is a factory tire defect known as a bubble, it can blow out right there very easy, don't drive it on those, contact them and even if they are used you need to at least get a new tire or a good discount on a new set.
That's bad, I havent' seen that on a hoosier in a long time.
Call them, show them the picture, they may want you to send that one back, when you talk to them be polite but concerned, tell them you like the tires alot but are concerned about this.
Chances are you'll get a new pair, and have to ship that one back so they can see it.

Thank you everyone for the help! It sucks that it just now happened, I just had MadMan install the T/A and I just put his LCA's & panhard on too. I want to run it so bad but I'd rather wait a few more weeks than hit the wall because of a blow out.

Thanks, I called Hoosier this morning and spoke with someone. He didnt say that he would do anything but did ask me to e-mail him the pic. I hope they will make good on it.

i have never seen that on a slick, but on street tires 99% of the time that is an impact break. its not a defect it is classified as a road hazard and most companies wont warranty it. happens when a tire brushes up on a curb or a pothole the wrong way and causes a weak spot in the sidewall and the air pressure pushes out the bubble. curious as to how that would happen on a race tire. my guess would be an irregularity where the inner liner seam is

Thanks everyone. Cant wait to tryout the new MadMan setup, I'll have to wait until next weekend though because the track I run at wont be open this saturday. Just glad I'm not having to pay for another tire.
