Default So Which Mickey is better?

http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/s...?item=ETStreet
or
http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/s...ETStreetRadial
(top or bottom tire?)

I will have these on a 95 firehawk with stock brakes and stock 16'' rims. Which tire and which size and where is the best/cheapest place to buy them?

And yes I tried a search.

The drag radials have the advantage of less "walk" on the top end. Otherwise, go with the non radial bias ply. Also, if you ever drive on the street, the MT DR's are probably the worst tire in history ever constructed for driving in the rain. The bias plys aren't even as bad, although they look like they should be worse.

You must be young. Bias ply tires are what we had before radials. And yes, my comments were about the tires you linked to. Radials tend to have a bit stiffer construction, which is great for normal street use, but may not have enough sidewall flex to insure good dragstrip traction. The ONLY thing that doesn't make sense in this equation is how HORRIBLE the MT DR's work on wet roads. Everything else falls perfectly in line with what you would expect from a tire.

A bias ply tire is usually constructed with a nylon or similar type material which is woven inside the rubber of the tire to give it strength.

A radial tire has steel woven inside the rubber to give it strength, the radial tire is stronger, less flexible, is more stable at high speed and also weighs more.

For a stick car I would prefer the ET Street, with an auto I would run an ET Radial.

So this is the bias ply you are talking about right? http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/s...?item=ETStreet

Also, I have different wheels for the street these will just be strictly for the track so I don't have to worry about rain.

Also, should I worry about my rear end if I have an LT1 with longtubes and 4:10s with an M6?

You should definitely be worried about the rear end. M6 + 4.10's + traction= Upgrade the rear and go with ET drags if they are a track only tire.

ET Street is bias ply = 6 speed.

ET Drag Radial is radial ply = autos.

Ok, so you think I would be ok with just the dr's then? I'm not looking for crazy 60 fts. 1.8 at the fastest.

I think ET Streets will hook better on the street for you, but ET Drag stiff sidewall slicks would be my number #1 for the track. Drag radials take more time to figure out, but you can drive on them on the street legally.

For street I would say ET Streets, plus they'll last longer than the drag radials mileage wise.

As long as your suspension is set up correctly, you will go faster on the drag radial vs a bias-ply slick. I go 1.39 60fts with my bolton car and a 275/60/15 MT drag radial.
