I thought some drag racers might be interested to know that we have several used take-off ATI underdrive hubs available for fairly low cost in our eBay store. These hubs are the hubs that were used on the ASA circle track engines but they would make a great underdrive for a dedicated drag car too.
They were called 80% underdrive pulleys during the ASA series but by my math they are closer to 60% underdrive.
These used ones had higher than acceptable run-out so they were removed (with the damper so far out front the teams could see the run out and would complain). These weren't removed for any technical reason - just to keep from having complaints from the teams.
As an interesting note, if you have a car with a very light driveline (small diameter clutch etc.), you may not need the damper at all. On the torsional testing we did with GM on a development ASA car on our chassis dyno, the torsional damper wasn't needed to keep the torsional vibrations within the acceptable levels (on the LS1/LS6 engine that was in that vehicle). This was attributed to the light-weight driveline / low inertia of the ASA vehicle configuration (clutch, flywheel, transmission etc.).
