new converter changed everything.... evidently the old 9" converter was a bit looser than i had thought cause the new 9.5" converter sent us straight up to the bumper on a track with peeling rubber..... so this makes everything i thought i knew about the car irrellavent....
moved some weight around this weekend and took some out... car should pick up dramatic MPH and ET.... a clean pass with a 1.35-1.40 60' should net an easy 5.60...

not quite all of it... no matter where i race the car will have to weigh around 3400lbs so about 3450lbs is where it will stay...
when the weight is behind the axel it acts as a lever and is very sensitive.... 50lbs in the bumper would act as taking about 100 lbs off the nose... it makes these BBC cars managable on shitty tracks... which is where i race.
i moved my 2 nitrous bottles as far back as i could and mounted them right in front of my 2 batteries... next outing should be interresting if its not too cold and not alot of condensation/fog/dew out.... last few times its been so foggy/dewy its been scary...

So it was blowing thru the old converter... something never really seemed right with the results that you were having, so it's good that the thing let go so you could put one in it that's right.
Car's probably got close to 1/2 a second left in the Et's once you get everything ironed out, nevermind if you ever get it to a good track!

i'd like to think the converter was the only thing wrong with it... i'm looking at putting a madman TA under the car this winter... other than tha there's no real cerainties... i've decided no bigger motor since this car is now acting like an animal with the new converter... once i tame it some more a bigger motor will go in it...

i've been tossing around the idea of putting a 9" under it too, but ****... this 12bolt hasnt given me any problems and i hate spending money on things that aren't broke... uuugghhh.... decisions... i believe the madman TA is gonna be a must have item... atleast i'll have some adjustments to try different things.

I'd leave that 12 bolt where it is, and if you break it, upgrade to some 35 spline axles if something goes. Hell Eastside went 8.23 with one and it was still in the car with the BBC when the car went 8.0 @ 180... I'd leave it in there.
Even if ya swap after putting the madman arm in the car, I think the bracket is the only part that will need to be changed, which isn't a big deal.

i'm pretty sure i'll save my money and leave the 12 bolt in there... i'm not looking for but about a 1.35ish 60' on average... so maybe a 1.30-1.40... that shouldnt tear up too much stuff... the car isnt exactically a pig either... 3450ish... havent scaled it since i added a battery and took out some weight... talked to madman's son yesterday... i'll probably end up with one of his arms before january rolls around... for now i'm enjoying a stress/race free weekend..lol

well at the end of last year found out the old 468 was gonna need to be re-freshed from blowing a head gasket last pass and looked like it washed down the rings.... was quite a while before we could get a load on the motor when we first had it out.
anyways got the new bullet in and put the new Madman TA under the car and lossed all ballast in the rear but added weight up front because of the 565, alternator, and vacuum pump... about 150lbs added up front car weighs about 3318 lbs with about 45% on rear... i'm still not sure how its hooking but we had an ex-prostock guy help us out with the chassis stuff and seems to be doing just fine.
shakedown passes this weekend about 8 total netted a 5.80 with a 1.38 60' @ 127mph on probably the worst track prep i've seen in a while.... quite suprised we were able to do that. the track wasn't even "tacky." it felt like a gym floor with basketball shoes.... lol
on a baby/starter tune-up for this motor i'm quite excited to see what this season will bring.

nothing spectacular to say...
last outing with another barely tacky track netted:
1.34- 60
3.73- 330
5.66- 660
137mph
car still had lots of flat spots where it needed more. about 2.5 seconds in it slipped the tire and made a big move towards the middle. looking back at data my dad was off the throttle a total of 1 second during the run with 5 different spots where he either slipped off the micro switch or pedaled it to keep it straight.
we are still on a pretty small tune up and being very easy with timing and have it pretty rich.
next outing with the data i have i expect atleast some low 50's or high 40's if hte track is in the same condition... which is always pretty poor around here.... i dont even have to tie my shoes to walk on the track here... lol... some people wear flip-flops on it

i plan to step the kit up 2 sizes and keep the timing where its at now. now the power curve is starting to take shape and it looks like madman's TA works like a charm.

another good track outing. i had talked to brian (madman) again real quick before i moved the TA down in the car. He has been great to talk to and always willing to help.
the 2nd pass off the trailer looked almost identical to this except a little slower on the 60' and little slower over all....
1.33 60'
3.67 330'
5.45 660'
143 mph
now i'm starting to hit some trouble once the car gets up above 5k rpm and in the run about .9 - 1.2 seconds. not sure what i'm gonna do just yet but next outing i've got a couple things to try.
next outing if i can keep it stuck about 40' out it will roll out some 5.2x's. i still have a pretty small pill in this thing and it keeps making more mph and drastically cutting down the ET.... I am very excited about the rest of the season. the plugs are a little rich and the timing is still a few degrees low...

Sometimes you have to hit it harder earlier to keep it from spinning.
You would think it would just make it spin but the DR like being hit hard right away and then just keep pouring the power to it. I didnt believe it til we tried it.
Thing is rollin, good luck and good choice with the Madman arm.
