Default Race water pump

Maybe a dumb question but, what else do I need to buy if I get a race water pump. Do I need to buy a thermostat housing? This is a mod I've never thought much about until the last few days. What gains are some of you with this mod?

race water pump has no provision for t-stat.

Unless you plan on running an alternator only, running a belt is an issue to since it doesn't have an idler pulley like the Meziere street pump has.

PS is gone so I guess it would be good for my setup. This is a track only car. What about running an alternator, how do you adjust the belt?

bmr makes a kit to make the alt adjustable

i used the bottom bolt on the front of the block. drivers side to the right of the front cover for my alternator. i welded a tab to the frame and use an adjustable rod end to tension.
i run a 4 rib belt on the a/c side of the crank pulley.
7000rpm. havent slung a belt.
i do run a small std chevy cs130 alt. its a lil smaller than a ls1 unit, i THINK.
could be worth a try. couple of rod ends and a threaded spacer will save you a buck.

Yup these are great and go nicely with a race type WP. I bought 2 when they first came out because they offered them here for $100ea and theyre small/light...

if you have a 25% underdrive pulley on the crank you could just run a 29 inch long belt. Thats what I did and for the few miles and few passes, it was still tight with no squeel and good voltage, using only a 4 rib belt and not even a 6 rib.

i am running a remote WP, PS pulley and alternator. I got the BMR alernator mount and i'm hoping there's enough adjustment in it to hold the belt tight enough. i am going to need to tap the front of the block though b/c its a 6.0 iron block....
