Default Dirt track tires??

Well I was just wondering if anybody has ever tried to use hoosier dirt track tires on the strip? If so how did they do? I've got a buddy that usually burns them when the seasons done so I figured I would take them off his hands if they work. Also would the softer or harder compound tire work? He has both.
Thanks
Brandon

The sidewall is too stiff.

Yep, better than street tires. When I had my sprint car one guy would buy my old Hoosier fronts. Look like street tires but much stickier. He was street racing, so he's not real bright, but the kids thought he was on street tires.

I use to run them years ago before they made drag radials. You need to run a good tube in them but they work.

I think I'm gonna try them just to see if they work. Would the soft or hard compound work better?

I seen a kid run those on a Iroc and when he did his burnout the tires shot rubber bee bees in the air and they were landing on all of the spectators everybody started running and trying to wipe them off. The funniest **** ive seen in awhile.

They work pretty good. I've used them in the past and had excellent luck.

I would stay away from the softer tires. They don't last long on dirt. Couldn't imagine what they will do on asphalt or concrete. Also I wouldn't use the tires that have been cut or siped. There is a better chance of them blowing out or coming apart. Do you happen to know the compounds he runs?

I've made a few passes at the track on them I'm not sure what compound they were but that was one of the scariest rides of my life. They walked way worse than slicks and didn't hook very good at the track. They actually hooked decent on the street though.

I was running them on a friend's mid 11 second Dakota, an F body may do better.

Good luck

There is a guy in my neighborhood that uses them and every time I see him make a pass at the track he has to do a really long burnout to even get them to smoke. Then he hazes them all the way down the track in a car that probably doesn't make 300hp on the 150hp shot of nitrous he uses.
