Default SFC question

Hi everyone, quick question here; How important are sub frame connectors?
I have a 1995 z28 stock suspension drag radial car running 11.6s at 116 1.65 60ft (pulls the drivers wheel a copuple of inches at the line) with no sfc. Are my doors gonna stop lining up soon?
thanks jason

Subframes help stiffen the chassis, if you're getting twist in the chassis invest in a good anti roll bar that will help a lot.

Hello, yes after a while you will start having alignment issues with your doors. Frame connectors will strengthen the chassis and make the car more consistant. As RAGEN said a good anti roll bar will help eliminate the body roll and we have one of the best on the market. If you have any questions please give us a call. Here is a link to our suspension page and a pic of our xtreme rear anti roll bar.

Yeah I would suggest you buy a set of SFC's from BMR and the anti-roll bar in the picture above.. I run nothing but BMR on my car and love it!

The square tube design is a stronger better design. A square or boxed design will resist twisting more than a tubular. Make sure you use a weld in frame connector, bolt in connectors do not work as good unless you weld them in. Here is a link top our page and a pic of our boxed connectors. If you have a convertible it requires a different connector. the weld in SFC001 are $169.95 per pair and are in stock ready to ship.

Not speaking in terms of subframe design or chassis flexing, but a round tube will resist twisting better, while a square tube will resist bending better assuming the tubing is the same size.

Dennis you see any problem with cutting the rear mount of the boxed, down like it is on the round SFC. Just having the outside LCA plate?

Not required, but as mentioned above SFC are a good thing to add to your car with the power putting down and the fact the floorpan, rockers and roof are what's connecting the front to rear, and they can shift!

.

Good decision. SFC should be one of the 1st mods before hitting track, especially if you added power or stickies.

I developed a nasty 9" crease down my right quarter panel from a launching - even at my modest power level. I got it worked out and installed boxed weld-ins, and it hasn't come back.
