as far as running motor plates what do you guys do for your accesories? do you have to drill more holes in the plate to bolt them up or what?

whats the purpose of running motor plates, do you always run a "mid-plate" as well?

From what i understand, the motor plate provides more support for the engine than solid motor mounts, which is benificial to cars with agressive cams. But people who have a better understanding, please correct me if i am wrong.

Maybe it is also benificial to cars making a lot of power.
Newtons 3rd law says that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. The power transfered by the crank through the transmission driveshaft and wheels excerts an opposite force twisting the motor in the reverse direction. Thus, a motor plate would provide more support. At this point i am just guessing, so others please chime in.

Motor plate does a few things,#1 it makes header install a ton easier. Makes engine removal easier. Makes mounting stuff like vacum pumps and the like easier. they're a good bit lighter. Allows you to shift the engine in the car if need be due to another type of motor transplanted into the car. There is more room for turbo piping with no motor mounts in the way. Stiffents the frotn of teh chassis some, makes the car react a little qicker off the line as well with the engine twist no longer happening. Stps exhaust rattles, allows for less exhaust clearance to be needed, solid mounting of exhaust is now a viable option.

There are alot off benefits of a motor plate, couple downsides are the accy's are a little more of a pita to keep if you are using factory ones, the spark plugs can be harder to get at depending on your plate setup.

You can run just a motor plate with no mid plate, but you need an engine limiter bar to stop the frotn to rear movement, the plate stops the motor from shifting/twisting, but will not stop it from wanting to move foreward or backwards, so a solid bar needs to go diagonally from the block to the frame.

Someday when I have a camera, I will take a picture ofmy engine bay.

thanks for the explanation! definitely helps for sure

so are you running accessories?

everything in my setup would be stock besides an electric water pump.

would they be worth it on an OFI T6 setup? looking around 750 on pump and turn up the boost for the track.... S88 or GT47 setup.

Motor plates also take stress off the block itself, when you run motor mounts it is right next to the cylinders and a lot of people will run a motor plate to put the stress at the front of the motor instead of right at the cylinder walls which can distort. It's also good to use a travel limiter whether it has a mid plate or not, it's extra support to help keep the motor from moving and help prevent damage to stuff, mainly transmission cases which are prone to breakage from chassis twisting and movement.

Here is a traditional SBC with a alternator and two pro cars I took from the last event I went to that went 6's. There are motor and midplate mount shots.
