Better times, got questions
Well I went to the track last night, and using the burnout advice from some of you, I pulled my best 60' ever as well as best time ever : 13.41@104.28 with a 2.037 60'
My previous best was a 13.535@106.8 with a 2.369 60'
My question is, why is my mph so much slower. Two things I can think of...weather, but really it wasn't that bad last night. The other one: my car recently just started burning oil, and I'm thinking that's slowing me down (by taking out timing or something like that)
All year I've been running in the 105-106 range (with a few 107s) and I finally get some decent traction and get slower mph. I still need a little work on my launch, I should be able to get sub 2 second range.

Usually when you get better traction with stock gears you will bog the motor a little bit. Thats why a lot of guys like to spin them over at least once to keep the rpms up.
The weather also may have played a part.
Good times Derrick.

derek, check out the DA last night compared to last ET. i have a feeling the barometric pressure was down. right now the air is horrid, even if the temp is not that hot. check that out and i bet you will be surprised. also, i agree with joe, that when you hook a little bit better, you bog and that easily knocks down the mph by 1mph or so easily. that is why ya need to get them slicks and launch at 6000 rpms! best of both worlds.

Weather plays a very big role.
I would be a little concerned about the burning oil. You may want to get that checked out.
I think you need some better tires. Slicks totally rock but bad for the stock 10 bolts.
How many mile do you have on your engine? :p
Good luck to ya.

I wasn't spinning, I just wasn't launching at a high enough rpm. I also think that I had the pressure in the DRs a little low (15psi hot)
Next time I'll start around 20 and go from there, take a little weight out.
I'm working on getting the pcv issues worked out. I turned over 24k today.
I did a little looking and calculating. This year my best was 13.602@106.08 which corrected is 13.13@109.97 Last night my corrected times would be 12.96@107.96. Is barometric pressure the same thing as "altimeter setting"? I got the weather info from weather underground.
