Default 1" 7/8 or 2" header?

I can't decide I find myself wanting the big boys but I think the 1 7/8 would run the same ET. My combo consists of a iron 408, 13:5-1, AFR 225 heads, super vic efi intake, wilson 4150 style throttle body, Nitrous pro-flow plate, th400 with a brake and a tight converter. The car is set up for the bottle 300-400hp. Just thought I would try and get a little feedback before I buy them.

1 7/8 stepped to 2 inch would be my choice. In fact, it is what I went with.

If it was my car I'd go 2" that's a pretty good size shot.

The only thing that changed was MPH?

Once you get around 800 - 900 hp it in my opinion should have a 2", a 13.5-1 motor with a 300-400 shot will make that easy and probably plus some. Nitrous motors and blown motors always like a slightly bigger header anyways.

An engine that size would like 2", nitrous or not. My 355" likes 1 7/8".

As for "only MPH?", MPH is your horse power indicator as nothing else is changed.

I'd run 2 1/4" headers if someone made them.

They'd have to be made on the car.

My chassis guy can do it, it's not a cheap job but I know he can do it. They'd be a slip on collector type deal and probably go in and out of the car in 2 pieces... but he said he can do it.

I thought about it, but the 1 7/8 stepped to 2 inch haven't shown me that they helped at all as of yet. Hell everything I did over the winter hasn't done anything, unless going from -800 da atco to +3000 da lvd really is that much slower.

I'm still .2 behind where I was, with 170 lbs less weight. Go figure

Many of us race for years and never see -800". I would be one. Hell, Atco is fast in normal air. Not every place hooks like Atco. My little stock compression 355" slows almost 1/10 of a second per 1000' in elevation increase.

So what you're telling me is that a 3800 change is probably 3.8 tenth's?

If so, then 9.85 is about a 9.47 if the track/conditions were the same?

If that is the case, then there's been improvment. Not the kind of improvment that I was hoping for, but it's moving in the right direction at least.

I know everyone for years has said that lebannon valley is slow, some have said the place as as much as .4 slower on average then the jersey tracks.

I dunno if that's true or not, I will be at e-town for pinks in July, I know it's gonna be pretty hot for that but I'll be there. If I somehow manage to run faster there, then I guess it must be true then, because there's no way it's not gonna be hot.

That confirms that, sea level correction is about 9.45.

Making headway, but to get to where I need to be for the racing I want to do, I need to knock it down to 9.50 in 3500 da weather, so I'm covered when the weather is really crappy.

Got a bit of work to do, what else is new LOL

Would be for the stock compression 355" in my car now. My 383" bracket racing engine didn't suffer as much in "bad" air, but it had more compression.

I don't think the 3.8 tenth's is realistic from weather, probably .2 if that. Track, I don't think my local track's prep is that bad, hell that's where I stood the car up 3 weeks ago so it ca't be that bad.
