Default Weighed my car!

One of my buddies bought a new set of portable scales and brought them to my house yesterday to weigh my car.

I have done pretty much all the weight reduction I can with the exception of
Tubular K-member
Tubular A-arms
Lexan windows
Drag brakes
Manual brakes-ABS Delete

Basically the most expensive stuff LOL

The car with an 8pt mild steel cage, Moser 9", 3/4ths a tank of gas, and 2 N20 bottles weighed a total of 3051lbs without me in it. Before we weighed it I took a guess at 3050 LOL I was only 1 lb off! Not too bad for a guess.

Just thought I'd share this.

I'd say the heaviest things that I removed were:

AC and heater box
Front and rear bumper supports
Stock carpet (I installed light weight carpet)
Stock seats

The rest of it was just nic-nac **** that I didn't need in or on the car.

This winter I plan to get a tubular K-Member and A-arms and I might go ahead and do lexan in the front and on the sides. I have to add more cage to it to be legal but what I listed should be more than enough to make up for it.

BTW there is a sticky that lists all the weight reduction that can be done to an F-body. It's very thorough too.

Good luck

are you sure his scales were right because that seems really light still having the stock k member and having the 8 point in there. If they were then congrats and get the other stuff installed asap.

They are definetly right, unless his scales and my doctors scales are wrong. lol They are brand new, might be a month old, and weighed my car in right where it should be at 3,188 lbs.

Left front-813
Left rear-731

Right front-839
Right rear-669

54.1% in the front
45.9% in the rear

Front total-1651
Rear total-1400

Like I said, There are still a few things I can remove to shuck some weight. I normally don't race with 3/4ths a tank of gas either LOL Knocking that down to a 1/4 tank will get me around 2900lbs or less.

I'm running 325-50-15's right now. Next year I am gonna change over to 315-60's

The car does alright off the line right now for no more suspension than what I have. I have cut a best of 1.37 60' and should be able to do better than that next time out with the new setup.

Plus I am gonna be doing the K member and A-arms this winter to get some more weight off the nose.

k member and front race brakes and front shocks is a big weight saver on the nose...

Not to be a dick but you should always weigh your "race" cars with the driver, since I havent seen remote controlled cars yet at the drag strip.

The front to rear bias isnt to bad. We run alot of front end weight bias on our small tire cars.
