If your reffering to a rear drag bar it holds the rearend level under the car, the rear wants to twist (up on pass side, down on dr side) as you accelerate. This looks like, and can be mistaken for mad torque on some cars. The endlinks transfer the twisting motion into the solid bar holding the rear end level under the car so the tires have equal traction. (kinda like a big a$$ swingarm).

I guess I should have asked how to adjust it when the body is twisting. Would I tighten up the passenger side to keep it from unloading the tire on that side?

If it appears as if the body is twisting to the passenger side (which it should) then yes, tighten up the passenger side. Only preload the sway bar a very small amount at a time.

does the axle not twist the opposite direction as the body? if the passenger side tire is unloading wouldnt the drivers side need tightening (pulling it up) and the passenger side let out to (pushing the axle down) to keep the axle flat under the car. Am I thinking backwards here?

As stated by 1BADAIR legnthen the passenger side. My post was kinda confusing now that I read it again. By tighten up I meant legnthen.
