Default Are DR's considered slicks at the track?

Do tracks at tech consider drag radials slicks and require a d/s loop?

I would say they are considered more of a slick or racing tire. There are some tracks in my area that will not let you race unless you have DR'S or DOT Street legal tires on a street car. I guess to keep the rubber on the racing surface some street tires will actually peel the rubber that is laid down up.

You should be okay not having a driveshaft loop unless the tech guy is just wants to be a dick.

Yea, at my local track on saturday nights they have Midnight Madness. No street car with street tires are allowed to run on the track until the bracket races are over with. You can race from 12:00 - 2:00 a.m. for $10.00 bucks.

Yea its a pretty cool deal the track manager actually did it to pull racers off of the streets and its been a success. Lots of grudge races for big $$$ now that makes for good spectating.

depends on where you go. The Pittsburgh Raceway park considered mine slicks and checked for a DS loop.

Either way you should invest in one. U-joint failure happens a lot and a flopping driveshaft can do a lot of damage. It's cheap insurance.

Yes, seriously. They're not tough to install at all.
I'll see if I can dig up some pics, one of the local guys snapped one last year.
Beat the crap out of the tunnel and exhaust. Not good at all.
Lucky it didn't wedge against the ground and damage the rear end.

Here's a pic of a Lakewood model DS loop.
All bolts, no DS removal needed. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...s/IMG_0203.jpg
No clearance issues.

i just run nittos on my stockers, and they never said anything about a loop, but hell, they ever even asked me if i hd nitrous or a helmet, but i guess they dont expect anything out of my car cause it looks like a v6 car.

ive been lucky at my track though, ive went 11.20s, and the only safety item ive had was my helmet

dr are considered a street tire. For a drag radial nhra does not require a dsl till 11.49

On a slick they require it @ 13.99. You should be ok.

Got tech'd in Wednesday night. NHRA track.
Loop not required running Hoosier QTP's. He said any DOT tire doesn't require the loop (until of course the 11.49 mark).

I have a loop on it anyways...

That would be awesome around where I live if the "local" track wasn't an 1hr. away.

At GLD in Wisconsin a few years ago, the tech guy saw a set of BFG's in my backseat and asked if i had a DSL. Told him no, and he said next time I came with those tires I better have a DSL because he didn't want me tearing up his track. Car was a near-stock thirdgen with a 305 TPI. Best run that night was like a 14.7.. lol
