Take the wire that usually runs from the ALT to the stock battery connection, and get rid of it. Then, run a wire from the ALT back to the positive post on the battery. A big 200 amp fuse in this wire, is a good idea.

This way, if you cut the power with the switch all of the power has to come up thru the switch and the battery relocation wire to the fuse boxes on the drivers side.. the ALT charges directly to the battery not to anything else in the car.

Yes, this will re-set your computer when you hit it, but I have yet to have a tech guy test it to see if it works, you just tell them it does, and explain that it will reset the computer if you test it, and usually they don't bother.

It will work if you had to use it though.

So the alt wire goes to the battery not the switch? The switch will just have the batt wire?

You have the + of the batt go to one side of the swithc. Then out from the swithc up front to connect to what ever was connected to the battery. The wire from the alt comes back to the battery.

When the switch is broken, the alt will be sending power to the battery but the batteries path to the motor and acc is broken.. IF you dont have it hooked up the alternator would keep the car running.

I have also heard people saying they have a special realy for doing this. WHich would be less heavy wire(less weight) but the relays are about 70 bucks ive heard.

You're not talking about that much weight (the wire), I'd just run the wire and be done with it.

I would also run the wire. I would say a couple pounds tops(depending on thickness) i will probably do 0 to a distribution block, and 4 gauge for the Alt.

I agree its not alot of weight, but some people are crazy when it comes to the whole weight stuff.
