Default Weld Alumastar front runner?

Just saw in the new GMHTP that weld is coming out with a 17 x 4 alumastar front runner to clear F body brakes. Sounds like a good idea but do they sell tires to fit 17 x 4? Anyone looking to try these or is sticking with a 15 a better choice? Now would this be a lighter setup than a 15 since there would be less tire and most of the weight comes from the tire when dealing with light weight race wheels? Just some thoughts!

They are probably very nice wheels if they are like their other alumastar wheels. Like our 17x4-5" Bogart wheels, they really offer no benefit to the F-body over any 15" wheel.

We been producing the 17's for the C5 crowd. (if you look on M&H's website, you'll see one of our wheels in their video section). They are probably in the same price range more likely higher then ours. The only benefit I'd see for a 17" setup would be if an F-body changed to different aftermarket street brakes which don't work well for 15" wheels.

That is one reason I was looking at them. I need 17" or bigger wheels and want to run skinnies at the track. Can you PM me a ball park figure would be for 17 x 4 bogarts? I have a pair of Floyd Welded R/T 15 x 10's on the rear now so If the price is close I would just keep all four the same.

We don't have PM's turned on, but giving you a ballpark price, depending on what is needed it will be ~500.00/wheel.

I'd honestly change the brakes back to stock unless you really need them for road racing. Bigger/more powerful brakes with less fade show benefits for road race applications, but offer little benefits for a drag setup as the footprint of the skinny tire will limit how well you stop.

Hoosier makes a street tire in a 17" front runner size. They are on the front of this mustang. Hoosier-19055
