What generator..... I have never owned a generator, so not really sure how big of one I need but I want to get a small one to run a fan and maybe a battery charger. I would think one of the smallest models would suffice? Who has good deals on them and what models are good?

You should be able to run that with a 2000 watt unit. I would get a 4000 watt or bigger if you are trying to power an ac unit. I have a 6000 watt I use it for hurricane back up and track use. And when I dont fell lick lugging it around or listineng to it I use an inverter that can power the lights inside the trailer.

Some thing you will wnat is the quietest one for your needs. Trust me nothing worse then trying to talk over a loud generator

Yeah, quiet is good. I don't have an enclosed trailer and don't forsee owning one in the future, so really all I'd run off it would be a fan and maybe a charger.
I have a honda 1000 watt, does a 25 amp battery charger and a blower fan just fine along with a radio/DVD payer. Weighs about 40lbs and you can put it in the t-top well when towing, cant even hear it, havent done anything to it in two years except put gas in and change the oil. They are pricey though, and buy a bike lock/cable and lock it to your trailer.
Before that I had a little 4 stroke 1000watt one from eBay that worked OK as well, it was quiet but it blew up after a year so even though 300.00 was fairly cheap it didnt hold up long at all.

I think you can power your items with an inverter . I would put a deep cycle battery on the trailer and pull the inverter out and hook up the wires onto the battery. You can also use the charge wire off of the tow rig light plug in and when the trailer is pluged in it will charge the battery. As a side note unplug the trailer when using the inverter so that it does not drain your truck battery.

I was putting 3000 watt inverters in boats with two grop 27 deep cycle or two 6v golf cart batts these systems will run an air cond for one to two hours. and the ac systems suck down the power I use a small one 140 watt in my truck to run drop lights it will run four hours with no problems.
