.

Don't forget if you get a Mark Williams, the axles will not fit. I have MW's for mine,
but I had to get new axles when we took the strange unit out.
For that power level, moser or strange are plenty. As someone said,
old metal gets weaker over the years. Good luck.

I broke 2 in back to back weekends in my cam only 6 speed car. The stock case isn't the issue, it will live if you buy a good pinion support.
Thats an affirmative. learned the hard way of course. Many people don't realize that the stock Ford stuff, especially the stock cast pinion support and base 3rd members are as big of a time bomb as a 7.5" ten bolt. If you going to be putting a 9" under your vehicle, use the after market 3rd member and pinion support!.

Thanks for the advice on the pinion support guys! I never thought about that being the weak part... I knew that they made aftermarket ones because stock ones were weak, it makes sense. I'm gonna go ahead and replace the third member and the pinion support with good stuff this time just so I don't have to worry about it again anytime soon. Kinda scary to have the driveshaft still spinning after a break like this, I definitely don't wanna be replacing my 6 speed...
