Don't mean to hijack the thread but why is it everyone mounts everything on the passenger side and nothing on the drivers side? Due to engine rotation the car wants to lift the driver side as is, wouldn't you want to put some more weight on that tire? With a good sway bar and diff would it make any difference? thanks and sorry.

Im thinking about putting it over there because i have my mallory box on the other side plus you would have to wire the battery across the car and that would be more wire. Just some little things.

nay you got it backwards. the car plants the lr tire and tries to unload the pass rear tire. same reason we put one air bag in the pass. rear and sometimes not the drivers rear. however I did both sides.

to the orig. OP, not sure about that mount you got, but I made my own mount for the batt., and nitrous bottle (10 lb) and it willall fit under the qrtr trim panel. the batt. will fit down below the ledge next to it, I just made a simple mount straight across the ledge to the ant. mounting bracket to mount the bottle to with the elcheapo bottle mounts.

For drag racing isn't the relocated battery required to be in a battery box per NHRA rules when in the passenger compartment?

well, yes. its ssupposed to have a sealed/vented out of car box, and have a cutoff switch that will kill the eng. . when the batt. is down low in the rear qrtr, it isnt technically in the pass. compartment. the pic supplied by someone with the battery sitting on the trunk ledge IS in the pass. compartment though. the cutoff switch has to be on the outside of the car, and be clearly marked/visible in case of a crash.

You have to have a kill switch that will stop the car from running, that is clearly labeled for the off/on position (EX: pull for off, left for off, etc).

It must also be in a battery box, if there is no firewall seperating you and the battery. The box must be secured with atleast 3/8". If any J bolts are used they must be welded into a closed loop. I believe the metal the box is made from has to be XX.XX thick.

the only NHRA certified plastic battery box is the moroso one.

I used 4 GA Wire and ran it from the Battery that I relocated in the back to the Distrobution Block under the Hood. Then everything else is still in the same location, I just ran the Starter Wire and the Alternator Wire to that spot. I put the Ground off of the Engine to the Strut Tower, and the one in the back to the Chassis, and to the Frame Rail.

The 4 GA that I'm using is the Welders Cable, really fine stranded. It's alot finer than the 2 GA and all the other Wire that I have seen most people use for their Cars. I got that idea from some people that I know that build Race Cars, they said to use 4 GA for what I was wanting to do, it would work fine.

Here is the link to my thread..
