Re: 98 C5R Drag Camaro Update
I'm guessing some mid low 8's. Big tire, lighter car out to roll out better. Time I think the website is pretty sweet. I didn't know that SS didn't allow that NHRA. Learn something new everyday.

That makes sense. Super stock class will more than likely make you more money then NSCA. At least with NHRA you don't have to worry about there check bouncing like NSCA.
My car is just finishing up with tin but I almost wish I would have done the chassis for something like super stock instead of super street. You gotta love those guy's running 10.5 tires and running in the low 7's to high 6.90's.
What is your car going to weight in at? Have you put the motor in the car and had it scaled yet and what where your %? I was talking with Keith from Skinny Kid Race Car's this past weekend at the track and he was helping with tunning for Ross Stomp new mustange and you should have seen the the new ATI chain driven supercharger! That thing for one is nasty big! But chain driven! The draw back to those F3CR chain unite's they throw chains. Just imagine a 530 motorcycle chain getting kicked out on the high end. Scare the the **** out of ya.
You guy's have any idea as to when your going to be making passes?

Re: 98 C5R Drag Camaro Update
Again, thanks guys.
SSICK:
What are the pros of using the jesel belt drive system?
Harmonics. Here’s a little article on the subject. As for a daily driver, it’s an expensive mod for our cars due to the required block machining.

Sorry, no numbers yet. Sounds like your building a beast. The chain driven F3 does sound a little frightening. I think we’ll stick with the cog setup for now.

Hopefully, Jan 2004. That will make this project two years, patients is a virtue
Tom the Roofer:
Thanks for providing me with Roger’s information at USEXOTICS. He’s a cool guy and should have our light weight SS hood finished soon.
On another note, there’s a guy on this site who is very knowledgeable with the GEN VII. I forget his name, but would like to talk to him, any help would be appreciated.

Re: 98 C5R Drag Camaro Update
Tim,
You may be speaking about Joe Overton. He's a Accel EMIC, and is currently beta testing an LS1 Gen VII system.
I must say the car is beautiful, but I was wondering about what your exact plans are for it. I'm seeing NHRA Super Stock thrown around, but obviously this engine combination doesn't fit anywhere in SS, though it was an excellent idea to make the chassis SS legal for future resale or possible combination changes, I still see the car fitting in as more of headsup Street legal car.
I see you're in California, have you considered the Pacific Street Car Association? The car looks as though it would fit very well into their class Real Street
My personal car is setup around PSCA True Street Rules.
Good luck!

Kurt,
Thanks, that’s the guy. I looked at the PSCA web site and with our dry-sump; we would have to go to X-treeme Street. We were going to race Division 7 Super Gas. But PSCA looks way better to me.
Thanks for the information.

Re: 98 C5R Drag Camaro Update
The ET Differences between Real Street and Xtreme are negigible. I just glossed over the rules quickly and saw that on the surface it looked ok for R/S.
Mel seems to run a very tight ship, w/ Plenty of Contingency $$, decent Payouts, and pretty full fields in many of the classes (True and Real being the toughest w/ high car counts etc). One of the True Street guys has netted over $12k this season between Contingency and payouts.
Where abouts are you in California?
Take care,
