Unhappy What Is Wrong????

Just got back from track and am very unhappy with my car. the good news is it went 8.91 four times then a 8.90 and a 8.92.,with a couple .020 lights
It is a 97 z28 vert, with everything still in it, but a ton of driveline mods.
Engine 355 lt1,11.1,comp cam Bauer specs .562/.562 240@.050,afr 210 heads that have been ported,lt4 intake,30 lb inj,58 mm tb,tune by pcms for less, headers, ory, flowmaster exhaust,Trans is a modified 4l60e with 3200 Yank, rear is 12 bolt w 3.73,26X8 m/t slicks. It is a lot of car to only be going this quick,i expected alot more. I am open to any suggestions for future mods, i am looking at a 4.88 gear and around 4500 stall The car runs great just does not et like i expected. The 60fts were all around 2.06 with mph all at 78,thanks donny I also have a dry n2o set up that is not on the car,but was wanting to get it faster before puting it on.

only stall about 2000 rpm with foot brake, tried leaving from idle to see if it would flash more but 60 ft was still the same

LCA relocates? Maybe a set of LCA's and some aftermarket shocks would do you some good with the M/T Drag Radials. We have all of these items in stock and could get you set up very easily. We can get your 60' down and hopefully get you some better times. Give me a call at the shop if you're interested. Phone number is in the sig.

Yea, for a auto car those 60 foots are garbage. Post even your 330 times, just for the sake of knowing what the car does. Post dyno graph too.

all 330's were 5.79-5.80 was thinking about lca relocation and setting pinion angle around -2 {don't know where it is now}and new drag radials, still kinda worried about the low stall, maybe a looser converter, would make a killer bracket car the way it is now ,i just expected more performance out of this package

I would think the 60's are way off also, you should definatly be under 2 sec. with slicks. Is it dead hooking and maybe pulling the motor down too much? With your stall and other mods I wouldn't think so but anything's possible. I thought the 78mph trap was a little low also, my basically stock LS1 trapped 77 in the 1/8. Not downing your stuff, I'm just agreeing with you that with those mods it should run a little better.

How fresh is the motor? Have you done a leakdown test on it? Maybe it's just a little worn out and down on power. At least the leakdown would let you know to look elswhere. Good luck!

8.91 four times. That kind of consistency could win the money.

love the consistency, just think it should et better, the motor is fresh, maybe 20 miles, ordered new m/t radials today, slicks are dead, was moving around in high gear, also installing LCAs and relocation brackets on monday also setting pinion angle maybe i need a better fuel, just using pump gas,was tuned for race fuel, but i see no sign of detonation on scanner ,tune was by pcm's for less, still thinking converter is just to tight for the cam would like to talk to bauer but don't know how to reach him

you need more power..look at your mph...get that to about 95 and your et will come...what kinda tune? what kinda power did you make?

Once I re-read your post I thought 'if it's that consistent it's probably not the motor' but anything's possible. I've seen fresh motors come off the dyno puking oil because of problems so you never know. Heck, with only 20 miles maybe the rings haven't even had time to seat good.

If it was moving around in high gear then it was probably spinning in the 60 ft. also, you just may not have felt it. The only other thing I could think is maybe the converter isn't 'perfect' for you combo, or maybe it's having a problem like the fins are starting to lay over. How many miles are on the converter?

Hopefully you don't have any probs that the new tires, LCA's and some tuning won't fix!

Question still wondering what to do??

made changes,LCA relocation,new LCAs,-2 pinion angle,new m/t drag radials{3753s}at 17 psi,better fuel ,eibach drag springs w/o air bag,
went to track friday night and 60 fts are still 2.05-2.10 spinning like crazy, damn near to second gear, tried leaving at idle and on the converter no difference, starting to think maybe just a junk track, was only a TnT night and I never saw them spray the track at all, others were also having trouble ,et was down to 8.65-8.67 with mph up around 80-81
entered jackpot race and cut lights of .006,.006,.0002 and .060 getting down to the last 3 cars and breaking out,so not all is lost just want a faster car,
n2o is ready to go but can't see using it with no traction , am going to try a different track this weekend and see, thanks for all the help, donny

Don't know what track your at there in West Tx. if its Amarillo Dragway, that track is 3700 ft. alt., you need to take that into consideration, i used to race there, you will loose a good .5 tenths & 5 MPH from Dallas/Ok tracks, keep working at it, if you get into the 8.3s @ 85 there, you'll be in the 7.8 @ 90+ range in Dallas/Ok track & your 60ft. will improve ALOT too, so i say your doing good for your mods IF your in Amarillo.
