Re: TEA 1.5 heads suck! Dyno within from today
yea, tq multiplication in the converter could be another reason for high tq.
look at shiz's car, 380 rwhp and 460 rwtq. im sure alot is due to the converter flashing some, but most is from that 4500 tcs making all the multiplication.

Guys, there's a small dyno (its a little squiggly because Mark was having
a hard time getting a good connection when his dyno was new, and that also explains
the strange zoom level making it look unlocked...trust me, its locked ...if not, just look
at Constrictor's with similar torque there, its also probably on HIS website)
at the CHS website:
http://www.cylinderheadspecialties.c...omerRides.html
(although I'm afraid that will get me into the "they're not a sponsor!")
Probably shouldn't have opened my mouth at all , but I couldn't help but notice the
torque thing due to the similarities of our cars and dynos...
I agree with what Brian said about dyno variation (was the torque "lower" on the GTP car also?),
and I didn't mean to step on your toes about tuning - just curious!
( I once dynoed "267 RWHP" stock..lol)

Well, I dyno'd my TEA Stage 1.5 heads a while back.
The car is a 98 TA A4 and has FLP headers [with] cats, though a full SLP dual/dual exhaust system. The cam is a smallish TR220.
With the converter un-locked, it did 388 rwhp on the rollers. This is with a rich fuel/air ratio of 12.4 to 1.
That puts it 12 rwhp short of 400. I believe if the fuel maps were adjusted to 13.0 to 1 with LS1Edit, the car would make that extra 12 ponies and put it at 400. Not bad for unlocked converter, no cutout, full cats and a 220/220 .553"/.553" 114 LSA cam... BTW > untouched MAF and TB
The heads are working well. In fact, this 98 TA/A4 made 275 rwhp when bone stock. So, we now have right at a 115 rwhp increase with a fairly rich fuel mixture and 'daily driver friendly' parts ... Not too bad

BTW, with one of those big 230 duration cams and the ORP, It would more than likely see 425 rwhp through a locked converter.
I'm just not willing to change any other parts in the car.

we dynoed a gtp h/c car with a 230 cam and it made 406rwhp. so that should give you an idea if the dyno we were at is low or not.

Re: TEA 1.5 heads suck! Dyno within from today
My point was that if the dyno reads low, then I would expect the TORQUE to only be
like 37x on the GTP car....(I would imagine that it would read both HP AND TORQUE
"lower" than the "good dynos" to the same proportion....)
Probably just splitting hairs.
In any case, I agree, dyno shmyno , track results are where its at....and
your car already speaks for itself....

Re: TEA 1.5 heads suck! Dyno within from today
HAHHAHHHA.. me hide no mods. I probably list to much half the time. If I street raced 24/7 I wouldnt get any good runs because everyone would know everything I had done LMAO
I think the M6's were making 370ish tq.. maybe 382 max with there 406-08 HP numbers so the dyno may have been low on Tq?? doesnt make a different to me either way though cause im happy getting the A/F close to dialed in
btw, i only made 277/300 tq stock with a vig3600 LMAO.. oh and SLP LT headers
thats why i was never a big fan of dynos
Tim.. i thought about bigger cams, but this 224 is plenty big enough for me. Sometimes it gets on my nerves, but other times I wouldnt trade it for the world

good post crazy farmer, I want to bring back up top to compare the flow numbers with other porters that dont make as much power. How is it running? any new track times?
#53
nice #'s . im a believer in the TR224 i have one and i hit 378hp without any tuning whatsoever. my car is super rich right now too. i think that my car only has 22* of timing since its a 01(thats what autotap is showing). i think i might purchase a set of those 1.5's this spring. i might get the 224/228 while im at it. im sold on the TEA heads now, plus i met brian tooley @ bristol bash and he was a nice dude. where in MD are you located EVIl??? are you near VA???
