Awesome. How does it drive on the street? That torque must be killer.

for some reason i thought the 5.3L heads didn't work well on the 402+ engines due to bore size.

i can't imagine what that setup would do with better heads...like some TFS 235s

let alone better heads, ported intake, bigger headers, and TDs
If you go too big on the chambers you start screwing with velocity and throttle response. Larger heads would only strengthen the setup from 4K+, IMO. (Where the smaller heads get outdone due to runner sizes.) I would opt for nothing larger than 215cc myself. Good job to the OP and Patrick G for making things work right, once again.

LSGunZ28-

what cc are your heads?
mine are 59cc, and am trying to get to 12:1 SCR for 402 setup like yours.

thanks!

That is a VERY stout engine. I love the graph and the #'s are very nice.
That is exactly what I would be looking for as my next motor for the Z.
Congrats and enjoy it!

edit: Oh and this is with Harland Sharp Rocker rebuilds
id like to hear about the dyno results with the ported fast and headers.

DAMN! EXCELLENT numbers with such a small cam/headers and through a 12 bolt!

You have another 30-50 ponies to pick up with the little bolt-on/port upgrades mentioned in this thread

I think they were 63cc from TSP, and they were probably milled .002-.003 the most after that, when I had them checked for bent valves and the valve spring installed height..

the gasket was .040 or .045 I believe

The pistons were -10cc... I sanded out the rough edges on the pistons though... so that lowered the compression a VERY minute amount...

Thanks...

I didnt have my AC belt installed at that point and I do have an aluminum FW and 25% UDP and my DS is also aluminum... So all of that im sure helped as well...

But Im still gonna get a larger lid, maybe so Ill port my FAST 92 and maybe change the headers to 1 7/8

does anyone know the weight between pacesetter 1 3/4, TSP 1 7/8 and Kooks 1 7/8 headers??

thanks, man, for the answer!
it is still nice to know we can put together a combo like this, like yours, and that it works fine.

i have an LS7 clutch waiting to go in, so, that would take away some power. it's all good though.

my kooks ss stepped headers are not heavy at all. if that helps any.

I know, If I go with 1 7/8s later on, I wanted to know if Kooks were significantly lighter(which I suspect theyre lighter, but IDK how much).. Then it may be worth the extra # for the weight savings (as well as them being stainless)

i really wouldn't worry about the weight on the kooks. its performance is worth it. i am planning on using mine when i build my 402.

is your tune completed?

Im starting to worry about weight, because I can never seem to get any weight savings on my car.. Sure the performance and quaility of the Kooks is worth it, but if its even lighter, even more reason to convince me..

My tune is completed for now...

Idling issues are almost done, Im gonna just leave it alone for now, it sometimes needs a bit of throttle on startup to stay alive, then it quikcly learn sitself..

on a downhill when I take it out of gear and press brake and clutch, it dies most times. but its not that bad. sometimes it doesnt even die anymore, just the idle drops , but it finds itself back up to normal idle rpm (about 1000rpm now)
