Default TR224 Dyno Results Inside!!!

First off a big thanks to Mikey and Performance Specialties for a great day!

Having just installed my TR224 112 @ YT 1.7 rockers the SS needed a new tune so off to Rapid Motorsports. Weather in eastern PA was beautiful today so all in all a great day.

First dyno pull was 350 rwhp @ ? torque on the LS6 cam tune.
After Mikey's tuning it raised to 366 rwhp and 352 rwtq. That is the highest Mikey could get through full exhaust. Mikey and I were perplexed as the my old LS6 cam beat the hell outta my TR224. Well here's the kicker we then opended the cutout and tried again............. 399 rwhp @ 386 rwtq Stock 10 bolt w 3.42's no dyno tricks car was dynoed as it is driven on the street. So if we do the math that is a 33 rwhp @ 34 rwtq gain! That means the CC baffle in my I pipe is one hell of a restriction !!!! I would have liked to have dynoed thru full exhuast but with the baffle in the trash can where it belongs.

I don't have a scanner handy so here is a quick breakdown of the numbers. I will be posting the graph ASAP using a friend's scanner.

1st numbers are TR224 thru exhaust with baffle in I pipe
2nd numbers TR224 w open cutout
3rd numbers are old LS6 cam thru full exhaust minus CC baffle

HP
2.5K 160 160 160
3.0K 185 194 180
3.5K 227 235 220
4.0K 260 280 265
4.5K 300 325 308
5.0K 330 370 345
5.5K 355 390 371
6.0K 364 399 376
6.5K 360 390 370

TQ
2.5K 297 302 300
3.0K 328 340 318
3.5K 347 360 325
4.0K 350 375 346
4.5K 350 379 357
5.0K 348 386 361
5.5K 340 370 350
6.0K 320 350 325
6.5K 280 315 300

Well there you have it! The numbers are as close as I can tell reading off a dyno sheet but you will get the big picture. I am damn well pleased at how my car performed but I will definately be ripping out the Car Chemistry Baffle!!!!!!!!!

Great #'s! Just buy a dynomax bullet muffler to kill the rasp without sacrificing the HP. Works great.

I think that its just the fact that the CC insert was designed to be used as the only muffler. Either way I would still rip it out.

wow what a restriction, get rid of that thing asap or maybe go for a qtec so you can get extra power when you need it.

I installed two 3" CC inserts right at the collectors. I figured two 3" would flow much better than one and they were designed to be used in the collectors. I have not had the chance to dyno before or after so take this for its worth, my opinion. The car has so much more drivability that I dont mind some top end power loss. Now I need to get the Nitrous kit installed

what is CC that you are refering to?
catalytic converter? if so, you use only one cat?
what is "CC baffle in I pipe" from your sig? doesn't the normal jet-hot header and Y pipe come with two cats that slip on right after the header collecter? man, i'm lost.

nice cam only numbers by the way!!

CC refers to the car chemistry insert that goes in the I pipe of a car without cats to keep the rasp down.

Yeah 399.2 damn!! At least get me 399.6 so I could round it up and not feel bad. LOL I'm not worried about that 1 hp as this car simply hauls *** with lotsa lowend torque. 4,000 on up is simply amazing. My chart shows Hp to peak at 6100 rpms and stays flat to about 6300 rpms so I am gonna shift at 6400 rpms.

Nice numbers. I ran an 11.84 @ 115 a few weeks ago with that cam, stock heads and tuning with just a MAFT. I need to get mine dyno'd, haven't dyno'd since installing the cam.
