Then you loose alot of low end torque though. I say add some cubes, TFS heads, cam, pulley, KB.

Not many people will Mod a $120K vette. The #'s weren't that impressive for what's done to it.

Not too impressive ???

Cam, exhaust, headers and more boost ???

Thats a roughly 160 rwhp gain. For around $5-6k in parts and labor. Not impressive...hmmm

It doesn't take $120k to get to 700hp with an F-Body. That's why he says he isn't impressed. And an ls1 can gain that much with a simple heads/cam for half the price in parts.

Anyone can build a fast car a lot cheaper but the OP was simply showing how a modded ZR1 gained 160hp. Now take your modded ZR1 and see if the girls can tell the difference between it and a regular corvette There are a lot of ignorant people who know little about the LSx world. I'm sure the average person would be more impressed with a zr1 vette than a 700hp fbody lol.

I hear ya bro. Let me throw this at ya. It may not take 120 K to get 700 rwhp out of an F-body, but you will spend an ungodly amount trying to get the F-body to stop, and handle like the new ZR1. Plus which car would you rather be in doing 200 ?? ZR1 or Fbody, I'll choose the ZR1.

He's not comparing a ZR1 to an F-Body.

I don't see any LS1 gaining 160+rwhp from a simple heads/cam.

And to ellaborate on Doug's statement; you'll probably NEVER get a street-driven F-body to handle like a ZR1. Even if you did you wouldn't wanna feel that ride

I know a little bit about the subject . . . I've got over +$7k in my suspension My Firehawk will outhandle a stock C5 but would get whooped in the twisties by a ZR1.

I didn't say I wouldn't feel more comfortable to drive. Hell yeah I would if I had the money. And 150 is scary enough in a Camaro I couldn't imagine 200. I am just saying I would personally be more than a little angry if I spent $100,000 plus the cost of the upgrades to yield 700hp. But if you have the money to afford one in the first place it probably wouldn't bother you.

He's not comparing a ZR1 to an F-Body.

I don't see any LS1 gaining 160+rwhp from a simple heads/cam.
I'm comparing it to a car both of us own Whiplash. And it's not feasible going from stock 300whp to 460whp with a heads/cam on a Ls1?

Yes the Corvette is pure sex on wheels. Stock it would out-handle any of our cars and comes with more horsepower than our cars. But it also comes with a price. I am in no way completely disregarding the more than impressive power and capabilities of the Zr1. I am merely stating for the money you should get more.

I put it in perspective. For 120K you got equal brakes to an Enzo, acceleration or better then an enzo, and would most likely out run an Enzo, all for 120K vs what 600K ?? Makes the zo6 sound like a bargain.

With that being said I do see your point. The ZR1 doesn't quite offer the interior that you would expect to be found in a 100+K vehicle. I like the rest though.

I was kind of hoping for some bigger numbers as well. I'm not saying 700 rwhp isn't impressive, just saying that with increasing the boost, changing the cam, and freeing up the exhaust I'd expect some solid 700+ rwhp results. I think these motors with the same mods and a decent sized cam should be making 750-800 rwhp, but maybe I'm just optimistic. He shouldn't have to ice the intake to get it over the 700 mark with a cam, puley, and bolt-ons. If you search for "boost" in this sub-forum there are a bunch of LSX motors with less cubes and superchargers making more power. Apple to oranges I know but I think whatever cam the guy went with, it could've been better.
