Just a little bolt-on car.

The car is pretty much "full bolt-ons" now, and I have never even removed a valve cover. I'll probably forget a mod or two... but here's a list of the power mods to the best of my recollection: FTRA, MTI lid, ASP crank pulley, ported/polished/expoxied TB, 160 T-stat, smooth bellows, TB coolant bypass, MSD wires, TR55 plugs, Pacesetter coated LT's and ORY-pipe, cat-back from a '02 Camaro SS with muffler removed and replaced with a custom "D" pipe, Royal Purple 5w-30

After a lot of tweaking over 9 pulls, the final result was a very safe tune that delivered 342 RWHP and 353 ft-lb of RWTQ through the T-56 and stock DS and rearend. Not a record breaker by any means, but it makes for a fun little street car to row through the gears.

Many thanks to Turtle for lending his PCM tuning expertise and thanks to Jeff at Maxwell Dodge for taking great care of us this morning.
Back in the day when I first did hand ported heads and mild cam on my '94... it put down less power than this bolt-on LS1
I think my first head/cam combo on the stock, original short block resulted in 336 RWHP. Doh! This was like 1996, so my car was actually somewhat respected on the street. Larry, I am hoping to get the Blue Beast strapped to this same dyno next month and then take it to SAR for some shake down passes... if all goes well I will see you in K.C.
Just out of curiosity..
What Air Fuel and Timing did you end up with?
Sometimes forget how nice these cars are with 'just bolt-ons'.
Congrats..

On the final version of the tune, A/F was 12.6 to 12.9 from 3200-6200 RPM (where we nailed the throttle in 4th and hit "record" on the dyno). Injector duty cycle on the 28.8 units was only 88%. Base timing was 22* and I think it hit a max of 30* but of course it varies through the pull. I can't pull the tune up right now and look at it. It's on Turtle's laptop, but that is the best I can recall off the top of my head.
Through the entire tuning session, KR only occured a couple times and it was very modest, but we tuned it completely out. Bottom line, it's a safe tune for this motor.
Yeah, "back in the day" I couldn't imagine getting these numbers out of a completely stock internal factory small block... then came the allmighty LS1

I have a Ported TB, factory SLP intake, Hooker long tubes, off road Y pipe, LM1 exhaust into my factory SLP center mount exhaust tips and the RAM powergrip HD stage 2 clutch and I put down 351rwhp, 355rwtq SAE corrected....No tune.
No times slips at all. It has a stock clutch, PP and flywheel with a stock DS and rear behind it. I had my take off clutch disc and PP with only 10K miles from my '01 SS, so last summer I had the flywheel turning and then installed those low mile parts from the '01. It's holding fine with street driving, but I think it would start to fail pretty quickly if subjected to track abuse. My '94 and '02 are set up for the track, so they are the only ones that go.
Our first pull of the day resulted in horrible numbers. The tune was so far off that the car actually put down less power than it had in it's last dyno session a few years and a number of mods ago. To say the A/F was lean is an understatement.
The car was dynoed in ?2004? or 2005?? I'd have to check the printouts for the date. It had put down 323/340 back then. Since then I ported and polished the TB, and added longtubes, ORY, and just now the LS6 Intake to get the 342/353 it just put down.
I'm happy with it. It's not a max effort car by any means. Just a nice little bolt-on street car.

Thanks Kidcamaro98. Those are great numbers for your mods. Stout car you have there.
Thanks Jeff!
Thanks V10GTS!
Funny, but back in spring of 2003 when I was in the process of haggling/inspecting the car (which dragged out about 6 weeks), only one other interested buyer had come to really look at it. It seemed that no one wanted a stripper car with no options and few people (if any) realized how rare the paint code is.
I knew that both factors made the car doubly rare, but I played cool with the seller and didn't let him know that I actually dug the fact it was a stripper. He (50 year old business owner) was not an F-body enthusiast and didn't realize that he had such a rare color either. He just knew that he didn't see any others out of the roads, that was about it.
