FWIW, we have a complete set of LS3 heads with the intake rockers and stands for $1150. This is with the LS3 hollow stem valves.

Just thought I would throw that out there.

but Patrick! the L92 heads intake runner is too big! it can never make any low end torque! you need heads with a small runner and high velocity to make torque!

* cough*

sorry, I slipped into typical ls1toke parrot speak for a second there

This statement above, to a certain extent, would be why NON ported L92's are a better option for a 364ci motor.

my post was actually tongue in cheek in reference to the regurgitated belief on this site that smaller runners are always better.

Everything has its place. 4.0 bore is not small. And it is not that larger runners do not perform, but they have to be shaped right. Just hogging a runner will not automaticaly make more power.
Big runner with the right velocity is going to perform well with the right size valve on the right cube with the right cam.
(notice the emphasis on "right")

I'm not sure if the bolt pattern is different but at worst if the harness doesn't fit I'm sure someone can make or sells an adapter harness that will work.

This is a very interesting setup.

my 364 l92 l76 - with a 23(5?) / 24(5?) cam - .6 lift 112 lsa - 1-7/8th victor JR headers- Is makin the same torque down low- peaks at the same location but Im peakin with 420hp. There is slight tuning and a better exhaust required to see my setup peak but its interesting to see how much more power this combo is making.

some people say cucumbers taste better pickled-

Its not an all motor build so Im not super worried about it. 40 hp is nothin to be worried about on a 110 degree vegas dyno with my backyard built car.

Kind of validates my LS7 stroker setup
I liked the idea of a small cam pushing out good power.
Better idle, emissions and fuel economy over the previously traditional approach of mega cams, large cathedral heads and fast top end.
Im sure GM would not have released new heads if the older cathedrals were superior. Especially with economy and performance requirements both increasing.

Nice numbers. My cam is significantly bigger 231/243 .617/.623 115LSA and was only worth 20whp more.

At what point in cam lift do you need to flycut the pistons with the monstrous 2.160 intake valve?

Big thanks again to Patrick and Kurt getting it running so well!

And It runs like a bat out of hell! I was at the races this past weekend, in fact I first talked to you when you pulled into the show. I'm going with an LQ9, now that my LS1's gone. After seeing/hearing/watching your car, and talking with Pat G about the cam he spec'd for my LS1 going into the 6.0, I'm leaning towards the L92 heads!
