Good tires to use on the dyno for high HP cars
I'm tired of chewing up good soft race rubber on the chassis dyno. Anyone have experience with a tire that holds up well to dyno abuse at power levels above 800 or 900 RWHP? I was thinking sometning like an old Pro-Trac. They were pretty hard compound and had some heft associated with them.

We'll add some vertical straps to the dyno before I turn up the boost I was fine at 800 RWHP peak with 8 psig of boost. You can see with 12 psig where the tires start slipping at around the 800 mark and don't catch up till the end of the pull and even then you can't be sure. I'll keep with drag radials until I find something that works better.

We have had the best luck with used up drag radials. Also bias the car toward the front of the rollers so that when you are strapping it down, you are pulling it into the rollers. We also use straps to preload the suspension and use the springs to help drive the tires into the rollers, hence the use of radials...
We had wheelspin problems with the 402 F1 Procharged CTS-V we did a couple of years back and these tricks seemed to work well.

A Properly strapped down car will eliminate alot of wheel spin. The dyno we use here in Marietta straps with 4 on the rear and 2 of them go directly over the axle for the added down pull. I have seen as much as 1500rwhp (maxed out dyno) in a viper with no wheel spin and using drag radials.
