Default Someone Help me understand these low dyno #'s please..

So i sold my car in my sig to my friend. WIth the mods in the sig it put down 350 RWhp CORRECTED at the vette dr's in L.I NY. SO my buddy bought my car, took it to Colorado, upgraded the suspension and also threw in a 3200 Stall speed in it. Got it retuned and the car put down 325 rwhp... Now the elevation is 5k + where he is and thats what i taught threw the #'s off but he swore to me the #'s are corrected.. I also asked if the stall was locked and he said yes.. Any1 able to elaborate for me? Thanks

different dyno's will put down different numbers. I don't think its anything to worry about.

^^^agreed. Plus that elevation is pretty high. Plus was it the same type of dyno, i.e. Mustang dyno, dyno jet, etc., etc..

Different dyno. Or maybe it lost some HP because of a fouled plug or something.

Its a different dyno plus 5000ft elevation difference. But if the numbers are corrected does it make a difference what the elevation is? And would just using a different dyno hinder 25rwhp?

Its very possible to see that with just a change in dyno. Even though the converter is locked I would still expect a converter to soak up some HP as well. You might tell him to do a compression and leakdown test to make sure he still has a good motor.

The power looks pretty much like what it should for "the mods". I'm not so sure your cat-back is the best for power.

I'm assuming both dyno runs in NY and CO were corrected to the same SAE or STD. That should take the DA out of the equation.

Yes, Virginia , they are happy dynos or perhaps happy dyno operators. 7% difference actually is fairly close. I see that your dyno run was done in the shop that diid your tuning. That MIGHT be one of the reasons it's higher. I'm not casting stones, just observing what goes on in some shops.

The stall will eat some power as stated above. Also not every dyno reads alike, I would take it to the track.

I'd be questioning the original dyno. For a bolt on car with a proven Chokemaster, it seems high. The 325whp with as stall sounds pretty good. jmo

^^^ Thats what I thought. I think the 350RWHP dyno was a little higher than it should be.
