Talking LMR works on Vipers too!

I had the guys at Late Model Racecraft in Houston ( www.LateModelRacecraft.com ) do a dyno tune on my '06 Viper today.

Modifications:
Paxton supercharger with stock pulley and Split-Second (8.5 psi boost)
Custom 3" exhaust with high-flow cats (stock exhaust manifolds)
Computer tuning via SCT XCalibrator 2 tuner module and custom tuning software

Prior to tuning, the lower rpm was very lean and the throttle response was crappy. The engine did not rev smoothly in the midrange. This could also be felt when running the car hard. The custom tune added fuel in the lower rpm range, and added more timing at the higher rpm range. The result is now better drivability, smoother revving throughout the rpm range, and better throttle response at all rpm. It feels like a different car now, I'm pleased.

Next up, they will be pulling the engine out and building it to handle more boost. Plans call for forged pistons and rods, stock crank, and billet mains. I'd like to get 850-900 rwhp out of the Paxton. The engine will be built to handle 1200+ rwhp, just in case I decide to go twin turbos later on.

Nice. Those cars are finicky when it comes to getting a good exhaust note, but yours sounds awesome!

Great work from LMR Like always and Congrats Tony the car looks awesome.

Do you think you'll gain anything if you put the stock 19s back on???

I have a friend with H/C C6 ZO6 lost almost 30rwhp from NITTO INVO
345-30-19 over stock 325-30-19 both runs were on stock Rims same wheather and same tune.

IMO you can get over 20rwhp going to stock rims.
BTW I know you dont care about dyno numbers Tony just thought I share.

Did you run out of fuel up top? How good is the stock fuel system?

Hussam, I don't know if I believe 30 rwhp from tires alone. Heavier wheels and tires, maybe. Even stock Z06 tires are heavy since they are runflat tires. Stock Viper wheels/tires are very heavy. Might be an interesting test though.

vetteroo, the stock Viper fuel system is okay for stock power. The Paxton kit comes with two external Walbro 255 pumps that kick on when the boost is referenced. Kind of a simple setup. You can see on the air/fuel log at around 3300 rpm those two pumps kick on.

Nice. So was the first run the baseline and the second run the current numbers after the tune?

And what hood is that? That's not a stock 2006 hood. Looks like a 2008+ hood.

We've also tested another C6ZO6 With 360Forged 345-25-20 same size as your Viper car made 529rwhp and next day with stock wheels and tires made 550rwhp if you have some time please try to test this!!!!

Again great numbers for such low boost and great work on the tune LMR I cant wait to see some 800+rwhp.

its not the weight so much, its the fact of friction of the drag radials to the drum on the dyno, and yeah 20-30rwhp can be lost (as far as numbers go) from stickier tires

Factory 2008 hood. I had it painted and installed, looks more aggressive.

Car looks great! Good choice with the hood.

Awesome numbers, can't wait to see how it does with more boost! Are you doing anything to the heads or cam while it's apart?

What made you go with a Novi Supercharger and not a Turbo or Twins or another brand of Superchargers ?

Paxton is owned by Vortech, same company. No other company makes a supercharger kit for the SRT-10 Viper. The Paxton kit is a proven kit on the Viper, thousands have been installed without any reliability issues. The max recommended rwhp on a stock longblock is 700 rwhp. Beyond that, it is recommended to forge the internals. Would you prefer spending $7K on a Paxton to get 700 rwhp, or $15,000 on a twin-turbo setup to get the same rwhp?

Hussam, we weighed the iForged vs the stockers this past weekend. The stock wheels/tires weigh 7 lbs more each. No way that would improve dyno figures, especially since the stickiness of the tire isn't much different.

Z06 factory wheels are very light, Viper factory wheels are very heavy.
