Default NEW N/A Trick Flow Head Record

we were working on a big motor for the lsx shootout, but we projected it not to be finished in time. we had a customer that wanted us to use the motor we were building for him in the car. we built the engine from machine work to complete assembly in a week and a half put it in the car and made it to the dyno yesturday. we were gonna do some hand finishing on the cylinder heads but we did not have enough time. but we will do so and post results after the race.

the engine is a 408ci 6.0 iron block, trick flow 245 cylinder heads, solid roller cam, and a super victor intake. with a few tricks we did to this motor.

through a rossler th400, 6200stall converter, ford 9" with 4.56 gears it made 649rwhp naturally aspirated. and 450rwtq. the converter flashes past peak torque so the tq numbers are down. we are in memphis right now at the lsx shootout but will be back on monday and will post dyno graphs. and track times after tomorrow.

thanks,
David Lazear

I heard this customer is a REALLY nice guy...........wait............you are using my motor! We will be working on the tune some tomorrow with the better DA here in Memphis. Once back in Pensacola, it will be going in my WS6 after a few lil tweaks. Somebody is going 8's!

Nice.
We made 614rwhp/495rwtq so far with TFS 245 heads on a MUSTANG dyno (~12% lower) with 388 cubes.

Congrats David....can't wait to see your motor in it, gonna really be nuts then!

That's also a 6-speed and IRS compared to a TH-400 and a 9 inch though

Don't think they have had time to update so here it is...
from stripes1987;
"so we went to the track today. i have never done a wheel stand like i have today. the first pass it was heading for the bumper so i bliped the throttle and got very lucky and didnt break anything and still went 9.7 at 142. the next pass we tied the front end down tighter and it carried the front tires about 65ft 4 feet in the air. and went a 9.46 at 142. and the last pass of the day i guess i came off of the two step on the transbrake and i guess i let off the throttle for a second and got on it (john says i have a case of vaginitis) it went a 1.32 60ft and it went 9.41 at 144mph. at the end of the day we see that the tire is rubbing the hell out of the body of the car in the inside of it. we are going to beat that in and than hopefully will pick up some mph."

This combo has been running less than a week, first time out....literally thrown together, with that in mind....the bitch is runnin damn strong!

Congrats David, and BE SAFE!!!
BTW they are the #2 qualifier

WOW ! I thought it was killer dropping my 60 times from 2.2x to 1.9x to 1.71 and the 1.71 was a real neck breaker. (Too bad it cost me an exedy twin, and a dte stg III, possibly more, haven't taken it apart yet) I couldn't imagine the thrust a 1.3x feels like !!!!

Thanks for the update. Sounds like you guys had more fun then should be allowed. Any chance of video of those runs. Would love to see those wheel stands !! (As would the rest of us I'm sure)

LOL, you missed my point. The first time I cut a 1.71 the way it felt compared to my 2.2x junk is what I meant by "NECKBREAKER"

I should call it a "DIFF BREAKER" My DTE looked like it had internal bleeding when I pulled over. Fluid draining out the bottom between the case and rear cover.

Again congrats and hopefully some of the those pics get posted up .....

Did you wheel hop? I have a friend who destroyed a DTE stage III rear on his vette. Broke in the first 60' on the first run. It broke in half with a huge chunk out of it. Looked like it was shot with a 50 cal...it also bent the output to the tranny so he had to get a new rear and get his tranny rebuilt.

Just saw the title and decided to chime in and show how well the trickflow 245's did on a car we put together also.
