Default 408 GTO results

DYNOS GRAPHS ADDED

Just had my 408 rebuilt by SNL Performance and wanted to share some new numbers.

Lq9 408
PRC 237 heads (milled to 62cc i believe)
SNL cam (244/248 112+4 .653/.615 lift
Ported Fast 90/90
SNL 4" CAI w/ 100mm MAF
Kooks 1 7/8 long tubes w/o cats
Magnaflow Catback

With my heavy 19" CSL rep wheels, made 511/495
Removed the 19's and put some stock 17's on and made 526/499. The wheels are eating up 15 whp! I'd like to see what kind of difference some really light wheels would make.

Car feels great and is a beast. I will try and get my dyno sheets posted when I have some time and will also update numbers after motor has been broken in.

First graph is with 19" wheels. Second is with stock 17's.

Pretty interesting about the heavy wheel HP loss. I figured it would be some, but 15 rwhp loss is pretty big.

Good deal !

That's some crazy loss from a wheel swap. Have you weighed the two different whee/tire setups?

Very nice numbers.

Sorry guys, I've been so busy and havent been able to get to those graphs. I am at a work computer and cant post now but I will get the graphs up soon. I too was amazed at the power loss from just the wheel swap. I have not weighed the wheel/tire difference. I am possibly about to buy some new 19's that weigh 20 lbs (rear), which are significantly lighter than the stock 17's. Larger and heavier tires will offset some of that difference however, but it would be pretty amazing to get those 15 hp back and then some with the lighter wheels.

SNL is pumping our some mean Goats. Mine should be done next week. One of the shop cars made 502 on a stock LS2 shortblock, one of their cams, and some PRC heads.

Nice results! Get Steve or Matt to post up the graph for everyone! I hear the torque curve on that thing was sweet!

What are you doing to yours now? You were just at SNL not too long ago for the cam.

I'll be posting results when I get it back this week, but long story short, it's getting a new motor. Evidently the thrust bearing took as **** and loaded the oil pump up with spare pieces, which locked it up and killed the motor. For some reason, they don't like to run without oil pressure. It was still running when it came off the trailor, but it had a pretty good knock to it.

New forged 370 H/C, etc... I'm aiming to **** off, er uh, please some 408's

You gonna keep it NA or low comp for boost?

12:1 NA for now, then I will switch heads and drop the CR to around 10-10.5:1 later for a Harrops blower. Steve said the motor would take a pretty good hit of nitrous, but I am just not a huge fan of spray. Much rather have the power all the time, and I am really impressed with the results they are getting from the Harrops 2300.

I hear ya. I'm toyin with the idea of sprayin, but I would much rather throw a 2300 on it, but its so damn expensive to do a blower, not to mention the expense of dropping the compression. And then I would have to upgrade the drivetrain parts to handle all the extra power. This is one expensive hobby.
