Missing power somewhere?
Missing power somewhere? So I picked up my GTO a few months ago and was claiming to be a 402. Well Its not. Its just a stock bottom end ls1 with SLP worked AFR Heads. Does anyone know the exact specs on the heads? They have SLP's part number on the drivers head and have afrs 1630 number so its a big bore 225cc head. It had the stock cam in it and I swapped it out for a comp one with 224/230 .583/.588 114lsa and it put down 375/350 through an A4 on a dynojet. Im fairly sure im missing power somewhere. Im also trapping 110mph at 1200 feet altitude and 65ish temps in dry arizona.

Stock LS1 intake and throttle body? If so your leaving prolly 35rwhp on the table. Kinda weird someone would throw 2500+ dollar heads on a car with a stock intake and cam. Something sounds wrong about the whole thing.
Because I traded my blown motored wrx in at one of those push pull drag events at the dealer and they had this GTO it was either get this one or fix my wrx and find another gto. It does not have a 402 though. It has a stock ls1 bottom end, The manifold is an ls6 since its an 04,and I did put a new cam in it.
Externaly the car seemed to have everything that an SLP 402 motor should have, SLP AFR heads, SLP headers, Catback, The bolts that hold the motor to the mounts are used so the motor has been taken out. It just seemed to be a bit down on power for what a stroker should be and I started taking it apart to find its not. The plus side is that I still payed less than what a stock 04 was going for and they took my destroyed subaru in.

Verdad Gallardo Afrs are good. The tuner is a very good tuner here. Its a mechanical reason Im down on power. The torque converter is a stock one from what we can tell. We were starting to think that the valves are being shrouded due to the 346 motor with AFR's big bore heads. But I was trying to see if anyone else has run these heads on a 346 and actually made power.
